Career Technical Education (CTE) Month- which takes place every February, focuses on programs that prepare students for advanced education and career success. IUSD middle and high school students have opportunities to take CTE college and career readiness courses that provide hands-on learning experiences that build teamwork, leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills, in various industry sectors. While gaining industry-specific skills, students can also build professional skills that transfer to successful careers in any industry and that can help students succeed in college or university programs. Each middle and high school offers various career pathways, which include:
- Automotive Repair and Maintenance
- Construction Technology
- Digital, Visual Media
- Culinary Arts
- Film and Video
- Engineering
- Information Technology
- And more!
In addition to the diverse range of CTE pathways offered at IUSD, the District has created partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and industry leaders – such as UCI Health, Medtronic, and Edwards Lifesciences – to enhance the students' learning experiences. These collaborations are strategically designed to align course sequences, career technical and integrated curriculum, classroom instruction, projects, and assessments with real-world relevance, reflecting current job market needs and priorities. Through these partnerships, the District can provide students with actual or simulated work-based learning opportunities.
