Is your child going to be five years old on or before September 15? If so, they are ready to start kindergarten!

If you haven't completed Kindergarten Sign Up for your child, please do so by July 9th. After July 9th you will need to sign up your kindergarten student at the Welcome Center before completing online registration for any other child you may have in the district. More information on Kindergarten Sign Up is below:

WHAT DO I NEED?

Everyone is required to provide the following documents:*

• Birth certificate;
• Immunization records;
• Photo ID;
• Resident verification (may include, but not limited to: recent utility bill, current vehicle registration, recent DHS paperwork, signed lease agreement or notarized letter from your landlord.)

*All documentation must be received before sign-up can be completed.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Current DMPS Preschool Students, please follow the information sent home by your preschool to complete sign-up. You do not need to visit the elementary school to complete this process.

Younger siblings of current DMPS Elementary Students who reside in that school’s attendance area may take the above listed documents to their elementary school to complete sign-up. If you do not live in the attendance area, you will need to be approved for Within District Transfer before you can complete sign-up at your school.

All other families, please visit the Welcome Center located at 1000 Porter Avenue with all the above listed documents to enroll your student(s). If you prefer to sign-up via email, please email kindergarten@dmschools.org to start the process. Please wait for the response before sending your documents. If you have any questions, the Welcome Center can be contacted at 242-7371.

Online Registration for the 2021-2022 school year opens up in your parent portal on July 12th. If you do not have a computer at home or need help with registration, there will be a registration night at Samuelson from 1-7 PM on Thursday, July 29th. If you cannot attend registration on this day, please call 515-242-8441 or email samuelson@dmschools.org for an appointment.
