TOPS 3rd Grade Weekly Newsletter

We've listened to your concerns and have made some adjustments to the schedule to help spread your workload. You will notice a new time for music and art, as well as an additional help session that is focused on math and ELA. These adjustments should allow you more time to complete lessons through the week and to attend The Hive. CC sessions should be updated by COB today.

Hello 3rd Graders! I hope you enjoy either the park outing or virtual outing today. Please look at each ELA Course below to help you prepare for the week of September 17-21. **Please note that the USA Test Prep Reading 3 TGA 2 Summary has an error. Please choose answer A for question 1. I have submitted feedback to have the question removed as it does not go with the 2 passages.**

Literature: You will read in your "K12 Classics for Young Readers" pages 32-51, and complete "Language Arts Activity Book" pages LC 17-20. You will complete OLS Unit 3 Lessons 1-4.

Writing: You will complete OLS Unit 3 Lessons 6-9 and Language Arts Activity Book pages WS 19-25.

Vocabulary: No materials are required. You will complete OLS Unit 3 Lessons 1, 3-5.

Spelling: No materials are required. You will complete OLS Unit 5 Lessons 1, 3-5.

Reading Class Connect: We will be reviewing the structure and elements of fiction by playing a game of Kahoot.

Teacher Graded Assignments: No assignment this week.

Please check the Gradebook Tuesday, September 11 to see if you have any 'm's. If you have an 'e', that means the assignment is excused and you do NOT need to do it.

It's time to man your battle stations!

We have received notifications that your teacher has devised a plan to attack your knowledge of life cycles! Before class, make sure you have finished all of the lessons in Unit 1 that have been assigned and have your KWL chart completed. You will use what you learn (and maybe a little more) to sink the enemy's ships!

Life Cycle Presentations

Hello 3rd graders, this week in social studies we are continuing in unit 2 completing:

• Lesson 2 - Volunteers and Leaders

• Lesson 3 - Government Leaders in Your Community

Each year, during the week that includes September 17, Texas schools honor Celebrate Freedom Week. During class on Wednesday, we will take the time to highlight the values and ideals on which the United States was founded as well as the sacrifices that were made for freedom in the founding of the country. Come and learn about the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. See you in class!

Every week you will check the grade level newsletter to see which Music Studio lessons to complete. Just open Unit 1, Lesson 1 in the OLS and click the link to take you to Music Studio! (This is why everything in the OLS for Music EXCEPT for Unit 1, Lesson 1 has been marked skipped.) :)
