Awards Ceremony

SMS held its 1st annual awards ceremony last Monday night. "A Night With the Stars" was held at the high school auditorium at 6pm to give more access to parents and family. It was a great opportunity to celebrate our students! We would like to give a special thanks to Andy Mayberry for being our host of the ceremony.

Choir Concert

The Spring Concert was held for EEM and SMS last Tuesday evening. They sang many songs and multiple solos. It was a wonderful presentation by our students. Karissa Lindsay, Choir Director, did a great job with both campuses this school year.

Art Show

SMS hosted its annual art show Thursday night. Many works of art from our students as well as a project from Career Orientation were on display. We have such talented students!

Retirement Party

On Thursday, May 18th, SMS honored two special ladies with a retirement reception. We will say goodbye to Shannon Archer our Librarian and Ailene Easley our Business teacher at the end of this semester. Mrs. Archer has 31 years of experience. Mrs. Easley has 38 years of experience. We wish them a long and healthy retirement!

Capturing Kids Heart Word of the Month: Integrity

Some ways to talk to your student about integrity:

Acknowledge and affirm acts with integrity. Publicly praise students who model acts of integrity, such as honesty and honor.
Encourage students to identify people who show integrity. Use scenarios and role plays. Challenge students with real-life scenarios and situations that allow them to reflect, discuss, and choose the best next step or action.
Create a culture of accountability. Invite students to give you feedback. Empower students with choice-based consequences.

Student ID Badges

This semester, each student at SMS received a personal identification badge and lanyard to be worn each day at school. We have added these for streamlining processes such as lunches, library, transportation, and event attendance. Students will be required to wear their badge each day to identify them as a student at Sheridan Middle School, and replacement badges will cost the student $5. Please encourage our students to wear their ID badges daily. Thank you all for your support of SMS.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Please watch this video that shows our drop off and pick up areas. Please do not drop off your student at the front door before 8:00 am. Students can be dropped using the street behind the school starting at 7:30 am. Please do not drive through the bus lane. This will ensure the safety of all students. Thank you for your help with this.
