MPS INDIAN EDUCATION UTILIZES VARSITY TUTORS FOR K-12 STUDENTS

Research shows high-dosage tutoring helps students gain an additional two years of math comprehension and an additional year of understanding in English language arts-on top of classroom learning. The program provides high-quality, frequent instruction, a strong tutor-student relationship, and data driven personalization. Students have access to tutors specific to their subject area of need.

Mustang Indian Education is excited to offer virtual tutoring sessions during the school day through Varsity Tutors. Placement is determined by the following priority levels:

1. Referral by teachers
2. Below Benchmark scores on OSTP/STAR
3. Parent Request- Students referred by teachers and/or below benchmark on OSTP/STAR will be assigned a tutoring session first.

Sessions will be scheduled during the school day with teacher facilitation following parent notification.

One on one virtual tutoring sessions through Varsity Tutors will be available to students on case by case basis. This option is available to ALL Title VI students, but priority will be given to students meeting one or more of the following criteria:

1. Secondary students in advanced courses
2. Students unable to receive tutoring during the school day due to logistical barriers
3. Students requiring additional intervention beyond the school day

• When filling out the form, be sure to include the student number. If you don’t know it, you can find instructions HERE.

• You will be contacted by a member of our staff to determine the best placement for your child
• Additional instructions and information will be provided based on tutoring type

The Varsity Tutors On-Demand program gives students access to 24/7 unlimited live support from highly qualified tutors, proven standards-based self-study resources, and always-on enrichment opportunities. We believe that this program will provide the tutoring, homework help, and learning opportunities our students need to be successful in school and beyond!

On their district-issued Chromebooks, students will need to go to clever.com/in/mustang. (If asked to sign in, they must use their Mustang Google account.) Within Clever, they will see a Varsity Tutors icon. When they click on that icon, they will be automatically logged in to the Varsity Tutors program.

3rd GRADER:

So far the sessions are going great! It works perfect with our schedule and my daughter enjoys the sessions. I’m very happy with the virtual tutoring so far! I actually suggested we move to virtual after last year we lost out tutoring at bronco club so I’m super happy and was excited to start the sessions with my daughter. We love it!

2nd GRADER:

We did tutoring through the Chickasaw Nation. Her biggest issue was her confidence. This is something both my husband and I, along with her teacher, watched her struggle with. She would whisper the responses or only say a fraction of the response because she was afraid of getting the response wrong. She really enjoys her sessions and having the opportunity to read and do her math work out loud. The praise and reassurance her tutor provides goes such a long way with her. It's also great that her tutor texts or emails us to find out if there are any concepts that she struggles with or is working on in class so that she can support her. She also does a great job of tracking their work together and focusing on the concepts she knows she needs extra work with. Overall, it has been a great experience and we can see her skills and confidence grow each week.

10th GRADER:

-She likes that if she has a question last minute she can hop on and instantly have help.
