September 30, 2023
Greetings TVMS community,
Can you believe we are halfway through the first quarter of the school year? This is a great time to establish regular check-ins with your child and have them update you on their grades and scores in Canvas. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our teachers and counselors if you need some support or assistance with this.
On Monday, October 2nd through Wednesday, October 4th during ELA classes we are administering the Map Reading test to your child (with the exception of 8th Grade GT ELA). MAP Growth helps teachers understand what your child knows today, so goals can be set to improve growth throughout the year. This test will not affect grades. In fact, it’s normal to only answer about half the questions correctly. MAP Growth test results are helpful for us to measure how your child’s learning is progressing throughout the year. Please encourage your child to do their best.
Our students have settled into some positive routines at school, however, in the recent days we have had been having some concerning behaviors in our boys bathrooms. There has been some intentional clogging and overflowing of sinks and toilets that has caused us to close that space until we are able to fix the issue. We will continue to monitor the restroom usage and increase our staff hallway presence to hopefully eliminate these behaviors. Please help us support appropriate use of restrooms with your children and encourage them to report any concerns right away. We want to ensure all of our bathrooms remain open and in working order and reduce the negative impact this has on our custodial staff. Thank you in advance for your support.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs. Denise Young
Principal
