Our Williams community ROCKS!

Our families are the best! We are so lucky to have had all of you supporting us during our various November and December school events. We are grateful for your participation in our Fall Fundraiser, 1st Trimester Family Picnic, Cafecito meetings, Triple P Parent Workshops and most recently our parent-teacher conferences. Let's continue strengthening our school to home connections in the coming months!

I'd also like to express our sincere thanks to our community for supporting us in our new safety measures. We have changed the arrival entrance to the blue doors in the morning, we've separated recess times to only 1-2 grade levels at a time and have closed our parking lot at peak arrival and dismissal times. All of these changes have worked out for the improved safety of our Wildcats and their families.

December will be a short month but it is flying by! We will return to our regular dismissal times on Monday, 12/12/22. We are also getting ready for Winter Break. Our school will be closed from December 22 - January 4. We have a Minimum Day scheduled for the last day of school before winter break. On Wednesday, 12/21/22, students will attend school from 8:00-11:45 AM. ASES and Enrichment will be cancelled on this day so that they may attend their staff development activities.

A big thank you goes out to the Majestics Car Club - Ventura County for donating the toys they collected during their toy drive. We wish all of our South Oxnard partners a safe winter break and look forward to hearing about all of the wonderful memories that were made with friends and family.

Character Counts Trait - Caring

This month we will be celebrating the character trait of "caring." We invite staff and students to wear RED tops/shirts, bottoms, hats, socks and shoes on Character Counts Fridays this month.

Williams School will be closed for Winter Break from 12/22/22 - 01/04/23. Students will return to school on Thursday, 01/05/2023.

Early Dismissal Wednesdays

Please make all of the necessary transportation arrangements to pick up your child early every Wednesday. Please review our early dismissal schedule below:

TK: 8:00-11:51 am (no change)
Kindergarten: 8:00-12:15 pm
Grades 1-3: 8:00-12:35 pm
Grades 4-5: 8:00-12:45 pm

Circle of Friends - Our Circle of Friends club meets every Wednesday during third grade lunch to work on social skills, enjoy fun activities and make friends!

Cafecito Meetings - Cafecito meets in P7 every first Wednesday of the month from 8:00-9:00 AM. Families strengthen connections with their child's school through advocacy, learning and building relationships with other parents.

Lending Library - Our neighbors on the 4400 block of Anchorage Street have built a neighborhood lending library for our Wildcats and neighbor families. Please take advantage of the new library and pick up/drop off books. This will be especially helpful during our upcoming winter break...it's fun to read!

REMINDERS

Uniforms: We are a school uniform school. Here is a summary on our uniform colors:

TOPS:

Navy blue, baby blue, white or gray.

BOTTOMS/DRESSES/SHORTS/SKIRTS:

Navy blue, khaki, gray, or denim/jeans

SHOES:

Closed-toe and closed-back shoes.

BASIC GUIDELINES:

No open-toe or open-back shoes.
No transparent or spaghetti strap tops.
No torn jeans or pajamas.
No inappropriate pictures, profanity or alcohol/drug related logos.

Lost & Found: Please have your children pick up lost sweaters and jackets from the lost and found area near the cafeteria. Any unclaimed items will be donated to the Rescue Mission on 12/21/22.

UPDATES

TK Informational Meeting: Our district partners will be hosting an informational Zoom meeting on Wednesday, December 14th at 6:00 PM. Please use this link to join the meeting: http://bit.ly/HESD-TK-INFO

2023 TK/K Registration: Registration for next school year begins on Thursday, 01/05/2023. Please stop by the office to pick up a registration packet once we return from winter break.
SHINE Enrichment Session 2: During parent-conferences, students were invited to our second session of after-school enrichment classes. Please submit your red registration forms to our front office team as soon as possible or call our office with any questions. More information is on the flyer below...thanks!
Fundraiser DJ Party: Over 100 students qualified for the fundraiser DJ party this year. These students will receive an invitation and a special bracelet to attend on Wednesday, 12/21/22 from 12:00-1:00 PM. The dance will be held in our school cafeteria.

Early Dismissal Schedule: Students have Early Dismissal Schedule EVERY Wednesday of the school year.
Attendance: PLEASE contact our office every time your child is absent from school. Please contact our office if your student tests positive for COVID, so that our health office may assist you. (805) 488-3541
Cafecito Meetings: We invite you to join us for our Coffee with the Principal meetings on the first Wednesday of each month. We meet from 8:00-9:00 AM in room P7.
Technology: PLEASE have your child charge their iPad or Chromebook every night so they are ready for class the next day...thanks!

Healthy Start Team

The Healthy Start Program with the Ventura County Human Services Agency and Counselor Hernandez will be collaborating to provide social worker and community resources to support our Williams families. Please reach out for assistance from our new team members:
