Students in Ms. Alghini's and Ms. Watrous's first grade classes enjoyed visitor, Dr. David Markiewcz, DDS, (Erica Markiewcz's husband) visit to Oak Grove. He read his children's book, Dentists are Monsters, to several classes throughout the day. Such a fun way to get the children inspired to care for their teeth!

VARIETY SHOW – FRIDAY, APRIL 24th - 4PM & 7PM

It’s that time of year again! We are looking for all 5th-8th grade students interested in trying out for the Variety Show. Sign-ups will be in the Junior High cafeteria during your lunch hour on Wednesday, March 11th and Thursday, March 12th.

Important upcoming dates for the show are:

· Tryouts - April 1st & 2nd

· The show – April 24th 4 PM & 7PM

We are looking forward to seeing all of the talent that Oak Grove has to offer! All varieties of acts are welcome to try out. Be creative! Please keep acts to a two minute limit.

8TH GRADE EMCEE TRYOUTS – will be after school on Tuesday, March 10th.
8th graders interested in being an emcee in this years show should sign up between Monday, 3/2 and Wednesday, 3/4 on the sheet posted outside Ms. Mann’s room. No preparation is needed before tryouts; you will just get a sheet to read when you show up.

MOTHER/SON DANCE

What a groovy night! 170 boys and their moms got jiggy with it this past Saturday to songs spun by DJ Ryan and danced with MrGetThePartyStarted! Many magical things happened in the cafeteria with our favorite magician, Randy, and tons of raffle prizes were awarded to over 50 lucky kids! None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our parent AND student volunteers! We would like to thank the following people for their dedication and support to help make this event what it was...AWESOME! For the second year in a row, students in grades 4-8 may participate in the Noetic Math Contest. This is a National Contest that we will be offering at Oak Grove during the school day. This contest will take place on Tuesday, April 21st or Wednesday, April 22nd. There is a flyer with information posted in the Virtual Backpack. You can also visit the website: www.noetic-learning.com/mathcontest for details. The test is 45 minutes and we can have teams of 30 students (can have multiple teams) set up by grade level. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s math teacher or email Mrs. Phillips: phillips@ogschool.org

***We will be registering all students as a school, so please let your student’s math teacher know no later than Monday, March 16th if interested in participating.

The District has established a section on its website to share information about Ethylene Oxide. As we receive updates, we place them in a common place. There is a public Education Forum on Sunday, February 23, in Waukegan. A press release with information about the forum, and how to register is also in the Virtual Backpack.
