Principal's Message
Dear Families and Caregivers,
It was wonderful to see so many of you carving pumpkins last night! Thank you again to our PTA for organizing this fun event and for all of the parent support to run it and clean it up.
A couple of notes about Halloween coming up on Tuesday. On October 31, students are welcome to bring a Halloween costume to school if their class is having a party. Your child's teacher will provide details on any class celebrations they have planned. If your student plans to bring a costume, please be sure that they follow the dress code, and that it is respectful of all cultures and groups. Please remind students that no fake weapons are permitted, no masks or face paint is permitted, and that costumes need to remain in their backpacks until their class Halloween celebration has begun. Students must be able to put their costume on over their clothes with no assistance. There will be no costumes allowed on buses.
If you would like to help at any school event, please be sure to complete the volunteer application at the bottom of this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Kelly

Attendance Celebration!
Eccles averaged 95% daily attendance rate in September! That is great! Let’s finish October strong and raise our 95% average daily attendance rate. We can do this! Thank you for your help getting your students to school every morning.
Click the link below to see some of the benefits of regular attendance.
CSD Libraries
Canby School District libraries use CSD guidelines for selecting new texts. This school year, new titles for circulation will be posted quarterly on the CSD Library Curation web page to provide our community with this information. Please click here to learn more.
Arrival
One of my favorite parts of the day is when your students walk through the door each morning. Students who are here at 7:45 have a strong start to their day. They can hang up their coat and backpack, greet their teacher and friends, settle into morning work, and be ready for school when it starts at 8:00.
We allow families to drop off their students each morning because we are partners in this work and you are part of our community. We enjoy seeing you! At 8:00 am, classroom dropoff has concluded. Students who arrive after 8:00 need to check in at the office and families need to say goodbye in the office if they enter the building with their student.
For the safety and security of our building, we only permit badged employees, and visitors and volunteers who have checked in at the office, to be in the school between 8:00-2:30. Thank you for understanding the need for us to maintain a safe and secure environment, as well as the need to begin the instructional day promptly at 8:00 am.
Picture retakes are Wednesday, November 1st - visit mydorian.com to pre-order or request a photo form from the office.
If you didn't get a chance to order their pictures in September and you'd like to see the original one taken, please login to ParentVUE. Also, there's still a way to get them!
Visit mydorian.com and search for Eccles Elementary School

OBOB is Back!
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is returning to Eccles for grades 3-6, and was introduced to students in their Library classes this month. Here’s what you need to know:
Participation slips were offered to all students. Students can fill out and turn them in to their teacher or Mrs. Adams by Tuesday, October 31st.
Teams will be formed the first week of November and will start meeting regularly
We need parents to help coach teams! If your child is participating in OBOB this year, please consider volunteering to coach their team. Parent coaches help provide the best OBOB experience. Teams without parent coaches will be coached by Mrs. Adams in the library, and she'll do her best but won't be able to meet as frequently with each team she's coaching.
Reach out to Mrs. Adams via email: marlena.adams@canby.k12.or.us if you're ready to volunteer, want more information, or need a new OBOB participation slip for your child.
