Melissa Ridge Education Center
Welcome to the 2023 -2024 School Year
Dear MREC Families,
We are thrilled to welcome you and your little ones to the 2023-2024 school year at Melissa Ridge Education Center! Get ready for an exciting journey filled with laughter, learning, and endless possibilities. Learning is an adventure, and we'll be embarking on this journey together. Your child will explore the wonders of numbers, letters, colors, and shapes through interactive play-based activities. We value your partnership in your child's education. Throughout the year, we'll keep you informed about your child's progress and invite you to participate in special events and activities.
We are looking forward to an amazing journey this year at MREC!

Learning is so much fun with Mrs. Lindsey Miller Boyd!
Afternoon Dismissal
We are still trying to modify our carpool and bus lines to create a more efficient transportation
process. There are a few changes we are making to our pick up procedure. We thank you for
your patience as we initiate these changes.
The afternoon pickup changes, are as follows:
- The buses will be occupying and lining up in lane one from 2:45pm to 3:00pm.
- Parents will not be allowed to enter the carpool lanes until 3:03pm when the buses have exited.
- Parents that are arriving early for pickup can line up on Erwin St./Melissa Rd. until 3:03pm, when they can then access the carpool lanes for student pick up.
We appreciate your patience as we work to make our procedures more efficient.
Morning Arrival
We wanted to inform you about a small but important change in our morning routine at school. Starting Monday, students will be reporting directly to their classrooms in the mornings instead of going to the cafeteria. Please understand that this adjustment will not affect our current morning carpool procedures nor your child's breakfast. Students will still receive a hot breakfast to kickstart their day.
We have made this change to minimize transitions and enhance safety for our students. By having them in their classrooms from the beginning of the day, we can ensure a smoother and more secure start to their learning experience.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to prioritize efficiency and the education of our students.
SEPTEMBER
Sept. 10th - Grandparents' Day
🍎This Week in Pre K
This week in Pre K, we will learn that our awesome bodies come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Every body part has a name. We can move our bodies in many ways! Parents, please look for the weekly Frog Street newsletter to see how you can help with learning at home this week.
Teachers will begin using a prekindergarten assessment system (CLI Engage) to determine student's knowledge in key developmental areas. Teachers will review results and student progress during Parent Conferences in October.
