TMEA Middle School All Region Jazz Band
Congratulations to Rio Hondo Middle School 7th grade Trumpet player Brian Rayner for earning a chair in the TMEA Middle School All Region Jazz Band! Rio Hondo MS and other small schools that feed into 4A and below High Schools are classified as ATSSB (Association of Texas Small School Bands). Brian competed up a classification and went head to head with students from larger middle schools that serve as feeders into 5A and 6A schools known as TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). Brian performed at the All Region Jazz Band concert held this Saturday at the Harlingen Performing Arts Center. We are very proud of this huge accomplishment!

“There’s nothing to lose by giving a student a second chance. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. There’s only the possibility of strengthening a relationship, demonstrating the power of empathy, and instilling a glimmer of hopeful recovery.” @teacher2teacher
“Never forget the past, where you came from, or how difficult it was at times to be a student. Oftentimes, this is our best teacher and our best reminder that children, just like educators, do not deserve to be held hostage with a label. Believe they can!” @casas_jimmy
