Collin College Dual Credit Update

Midterms have come and gone, and our Collin dual credit students are headed into the last several weeks of the fall semester. If you have any questions about your classes, please make sure you reach out to your professor early and often. This is always a busy time of year, so we hope everyone stays healthy and sets a plan to finish strong.

The December US History EOC administration for our DC students enrolled in HIST 1302 is on Wednesday, December 7th at 9 AM on their home HS campus. We understand that this is during Collin’s Finals Week.

• If a student has a conflict with a final exam and the EOC, then the student will attend their Collin final and make-up their US History EOC on either Thursday AM or Friday AM. If a student has a conflict all week, which would be highly unusual, then we will work with the student to resolve that issue on an individual basis.
• If a student does not have a conflict and chooses not to take the US History EOC exam this week, then the student's Spring 2023 dual credit participation may be revoked.

The district has prepared an optional US History tutorial. The Canvas course will help students review and practice content for the EOC exam. Students can self-enroll in the course with this URL: https://fisd.instructure.com/enroll/9WEH3F. Alternatively, they can sign up at https://fisd.instructure.com/register and use the following join code: 9WEH3F

In order to maintain participation in dual credit classes, students must earn a 70% or higher in their Collin classes. For Health Science profession courses, the passing threshold for Collin is 75% Make sure you are aware of your academic progress, and reach out to your professor if you have questions.

In a shift from recent semesters, Collin College Counselors have registererd all dual and concurrent credit students in their Spring 2023 classes. Students must pay via CougarPay in order to finalize your enrollment for the spring semester.

For students wanting to add an additional elective class like ARTS 1301, SPCH 1311, etc., they should speak with their HS counselor.

Please remember that courses are subject to change based on participation numbers. In addition, with Collin taking on the registration process, there is not the option to request specific professors.

All FISD Seniors are invited to apply for the Frisco Education Foundation Scholarships! Since 1999, FEF has awarded more than $9.4 million in college scholarships to more than 8,700 graduating seniors. The application and additional details will be available on the Frisco Education Foundation scholarship website as the window opening nears.

Students who are having trouble logging in will need to contact Student Technical Support at 972.377.1777 for assistance in resetting their password. You should have your CWID# ready before calling. Contact your CCC if you have trouble locating your CWID# and username.

Collin College does have a grade appeal process in place, if the issue fits the category of "capricious grading." To find out more about this term as well as the appeal's process, please check out Collin's website HERE.
