Ram Page

The Ram Squad is a group of 5th grade students who work together to spread kindness, help others, raise funds for school projects and serve their community. This year there are 14 members and their leaders, Mrs. Gebauer and Mrs. Porteus. To become a member, students must fill out an application and have a letter of recommendation written for them.

A few activities they have already participated include the Eastern Colorado Round-Up parade, crosswalk monitors, door greeter, and handing out gifts to our new employees. They’re in the process of getting their fall decor fundraiser set up, so be on the lookout for that at the beginning of October!

The MS volleyball girls have been busy. They hosted Sedgwick Co at home and the A team came away with a win while other teams gained valuable court experience. On Saturday the girls hosted Fleming, Merino & Hi Plains. Then on Monday, the Rams traveled to Yuma. The A team was able to come home with a win. The girls are working hard and improving everyday.

The MS football team played against the Sedgwick County Cougars and came away with a win 36-14!

The 6th grade Rams traveled to Wiggins on Tuesday, though the score didn't come out in their favor, they played hard and earned some time on the field.

Akron's annual college and career fair was held at the school on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Houston put together a great showing of area businesses and colleges to present to our students. Over 25 businesses and seven colleges were represented and provided information to the kids.

Akron FFA introduced 15 new freshmen to FFA Wednesday at the District 15 Greenhand Conference in Akron. They networked with about 70 other kids while learning about official dress, SAE's, Career Development Events, parliamentary procedure, and opportunities for growth over the next four years. The students were engaged in hands on workshops throughout the day.

The Akron Rams golf team performed well last Friday at their home meet. Best scores of the year. On to a next week that will determine who gets to play in Greeley at Boomerang for Regionals on September 19.
