A Note From the Director:
October is a busy month at Little Spartans Preschool! Be sure to read the newsletter carefully and reach out with any questions you may have.
Recess/Outdoor Learning
The weather is changing and the mornings are very cool. Please be sure to send students with a jacket/coat. We will be going outside for recess and/or outdoor learning as long as the temperature is above freezing.
Picture Day
School picture day is Tuesday, October 4th. Pictures can be ordered at inter-state.com/order….. School Code: 69022RA
Firetruck/Fireman Day
All Little Spartans will get to meet a fireman, see a firetruck, and do an obstacle course with firefighters on Monday, October 10th. A huge THANK YOU goes out to the Connersville Fire Department for your support!
Teacher Professional Development/Conferences
Wednesday, October 12th is a professional development/conference day for teachers. No students will be in attendance. If you haven't scheduled a conference with your child's teacher yet, please reach out to them by calling the school or messaging on ClassDojo.
Head Start-No School
There will be no Head Start classes on October 7th or October 14th. In addition, there will be no 1/2 day Head Start classes on October 13th. These dates were preciously scheduled off dates on the calendar given at registration.
Head Start- Parent Meeting
Head Start classrooms will have parent meetings on Tuesday, October 11th @5:00-6:00p.m. The focus will be on Dental Health. Dr. Laura from Christie Family Dentistry will be speaking.
Head Start- Field Trip
Head Start students will be going on a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo on October 19th and 20th. Head Start families will be receiving more information about the trip from your child's teacher.
Fall Break
Fall Break will take place October 24-28. There will not be anyone in the office to answer or return phone calls this week.
Dress-up Day
On Monday, October 31st, students may wear their Halloween Costumes or dress as a book character. Please no scary costumes or fake weapons.
Sick Student Procedures
Procedures for sick students can be found later in the newsletter. A rule of thumb to follow is 'students must be free of fever/diarrhea/vomiting for 24 hours (without medication) before returning to school.'
Bookmobile
This year we have partnered with the Fayette County Public Library. The bookmobile will be visiting LSP two times each month from 11:15a.m.-2:30p.m. Please feel to sign your family up for a library card and check out some books. October dates are 10/7 and 10/21. Students will begin visiting the bookmobile this month. The Fayette County Public Library will also be reading and doing crafts with some of our classrooms.
Safety, Safety, Safety
Don't be alarmed if you notice police presence at LSP! The Connersville Police Department and the Fayette County Sherriff's Department regularly visit to make sure our students and staff are safe. If there ever is an emergency, families will be notified via Powerschool Messenger, ClassDojo, and Social Media (Facebook/Twitter). If your phone number changes for any reason, please notify the office so we can update our system!
Little Spartans regularly practice emergency drills! During the month of October, we will be doing an off site evacuation drill. This means we will be going to our reunification point at the AMVETS building. Families will be notified after the drill, so they can discuss with their child. Emergency personnel will be present to make sure everyone is safe during the off-site drill!

- Head Start- 3-5 year old children, income based, Monday-Thursday 1/2 day OR Monday-Friday full day (4-5 year old children only)
- Title One Preschool- 4-5 year old children, Monday-Friday 1/2 day
- Developmental Preschool- 3-5 year old children, Monday-Friday 1/2 day
- Kindergarten Transition- (Mrs. Walker's class), 5 year old children who are Kindergarten eligible and pre-selected from the 21-22 school year, Monday-Friday full day
Half Day Sessions
8:00-11:30a.m. OR 11:30a.m.-3:00p.m.
Full Day Sessions
8:00a.m.-3:00p.m.
Morning drop-off begins at 7:50a.m. each morning.
