Week of February 19
April 22 - Asynchronous Learning
The Plan for Students
Monday, April 22nd will now be an asynchronous learning day for students (rather than making up an instructional day at the end of the school year). Teams will prepare grade-level work to send home with students on April 17th. Students have two weeks to complete the work. When they turn it in, they will be marked present for the make-up day, so teachers will need to record completion. Activities should be a review and can include, but are not limited to, reading, math, and choice boards. Consider using Copy Plus to make copies (Google Form). Admin is preparing a "cover sheet" for the April 22nd work that has an explanation. We will make copies on color paper that teachers will staple to the packet going home. As the date approaches the cover sheet and directions should be included in your class dojo messages. Work should only be a review and does not need to cover every subject.
**We are not using technology for our Asynchronous student work
**If there is another snow day, April 10th will also be an asynchronous instructional day
The Plan for Staff
Teachers will be able to telework on Monday, April 22. This professional learning day will now be two hours of asynchronous learning that must be completed between Wednesday, April 10 and Friday, May 10. The Department of Districtwide Professional Learning will provide asynchronous learning for staff and continue to focus on the Equitable Teaching and Learning Framework with attention to antiracist and culturally responsive practice. (So, in other words, there will be a 2-hour online PD for staff to complete in lieu of the full day PD) Administrators will check for completion on April 30th and the final check for completion will be May 11th.
Eureka Math: Program Evaluation
Attention Cohort One Schools: As specified in the 2.9.24 Department of Shared Accountability memo, invitations to complete a survey will be sent to a random sample of PreK–5 mathematics classroom teachers, all school mathematics representatives, a sample of English language development and special education teachers, and all central office staff supporting mathematics instruction. The survey will be open for two weeks (possible extension if there is not a sufficient response rate by then). Only those on the invited list can access the survey link. Please encourage your teachers to participate.

Girls on the Run - Grades 3-5
GOTR registration for the Spring season is open! This is a program for girls in grades 3-5. Please promote in your classroom! There is a fun new and exciting curriculum. All season we will work on preparing for our 5K which will take place on Sunday May 19th. Come join us for an exciting Spring season! Contact Reagan Blankenship, lead coach, with any questions.
Student-Centered Instructional Rounds
Leadership Team members will engage in Student-Centered Instructional Rounds starting February 12 through February 23. Coverage will be provided for classroom teachers on leadership to observe. When a leadership team member comes into your room, just know they are observing a particular student to gather engagement data for our SIP.
Black History Month Resources
From the math department:
One relevant way to celebrate Black History Month in your schools is by sharing the contributions of famous Black / African American Mathematicians past and present with whom students/staff may not be familiar. While we should admire the accomplishments of these incredible mathematicians any time of the year, the month of February provides a focused opportunity to gain a deeper historical context and make connections between the past, the present, and the future. Here is a slideshow of just 12 impactful mathematicians who are Black / African American. Please consider sharing those listed on this presentation and others you find beyond our list with your staff in one way or another over the course of the month of February. Thank you to our IMC, Rachel Dance, for sharing these resources!
