Coronavirus won’t stop Bath Tech students from seeking their post high school plans. The start of quarter 2 brought Graphic Design students on a virtual tour of MECA, Maine College of Art, located in the heart of Portland. Admission Counselor, Justin Desper introduced us to MECA student life, both in the Portland community and within the MECA campus. We got to see the dormitories, classrooms, and private studio spaces.
Justin brought students on the path of two MECA graduates who both began their education thinking they wanted to major in Illustration; consequently both students went down a different path while attending MECA, landing in Video Game Design and MetalSmithing. Both majors and career paths reap the benefits of a strong illustration background.
The instructors and students at Bath Tech will continue to have conversations about life after high school, create goals, and talk about how to make those goals a reality. We will find ways to incorporate our normal CTE programs and events into the current hybrid model of education, and find as many experiences as we can to expose students to the opportunities that await them after high school.
