Flint Montessori will be adding two classrooms at DTM next fall, and will serve Pre-K through 3rd grade.
Montessori Elementary- The Flint Montessori Elementary program is application-based. Applications will be accepted starting February 26, 2018 for the 2018-19 school year. Applications received by the Office of Centralized Enrollment by May 15, 2018 will be considered as a group based on established criteria. The application is available online to download and hard copies are available at the Flint Community Schools Office of Centralized Enrollment (923 E. Kearsley St.) and Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary. Students who apply between February 26 and May 15 will be notified of their acceptance to enroll or status on the wait list in mid-June.
Montessori Pre-Kindergarten- The Montessori pre-kindergarten program is the part of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). To begin the pre-registration process please visit www.geneseepreschool.org or call (810) 59-KIDS. Be sure to select Flint Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary Montessori-GSRP as your preferred program. (All Flint 4-year-olds exposed to the water crisis currently qualify for free pre-kindergarten through GSRP regardless of income.) Please let us know when you have taken this step so we can help guide you through the rest of the process by calling (810) 610-7209 or emailing the Flint Montessori Parent Liaison, Elizabeth Jordan at jordanel19@yahoo.com.

Did you know that Montessori for Flint is always accepting donations? Both monetary and material donations are graciously accepted. All donations are utilized to ensure that children in the program have the highest quality materials possible and that classrooms are able to operate with fidelity to the Montessori model. Mental & Social Skills
Kids make progress in language development as they get acquainted with letter sounds. Children can naturally learn the language when they are included in conversations with peers.

Children get started with learning sounds and letters through eye-hand work as they touch and recognize materials of various shape and size.
Timeline of Life
The timeline of life is part of the Montessori Great Lessons that present information for elementary-aged children within the grand context of time and place
Still Seeking Subs
We are looking for people who may be interested in being available as a substitute teacher in the Montessori classrooms. Having at least 90 hours of college credit is required, and knowledge of Montessori philosophy is preferred. One must register with PESG (the company that coordinates subtitutes for Flint Community Schools at www.mypesg.com. If you or someone you know is potentially interested please register as soon as possible. If there are potential substitutes who could be a good fit for the Montessori program but don’t yet have Montessori training, there are possibilities. Contact Elizabeth Jordan with questions or for more information.

2nd Annual Parent Appreciation Luncheon
Co-Hosted by Great Start Genesee and Weiss Child Advocacy Center/Priority Children, this annual luncheon, hosted in honor of Parenting Awareness Month in Michigan, has onsite childcare, a delicious meal, networking, games and giveaways.
