Bernardo Parent Bulletin #41

This year has been amazing and I'm incredibly proud of all that was accomplished at Bernardo! Our students experienced amazing academic growth while having fun and making memories that they'll hold onto for years to come.

It was exciting for our students to have the opportunity to go on field trips thanks to our parents stepping up to drive and teachers taking the time to plan and organize them. Fun family events such as the ice cream social, new parent breakfast, fall festival, family reading and science nights, movie night, and family dance, would not have been possible without our amazing PTA!

Providing a meaningful and memorable educational experience for our children is not easy but thanks to the incredible collaboration between our staff and families, I think that we do a pretty good job.

Thank you Bernardo families for your incredible support and involvement in your children's education. Our school is an awesome place to learn and work thanks to you!

Bernardo School raised $1,600.22 for the Ronald McDonald House from our Red Shoe Day and ended up ranking #8 out of 73 locations that collected for the cause yesterday!

Thank you to our first grader teachers along with Mrs. Collins who facilitated this event, thank you to our amazing students for their enthusiasm and work in collecting the funds, and a huge thank you to all of our Bernardo Families for once again showing incredible generosity towards a great cause!

For anyone interested in purchasing a sweet treat this Wednesday, Kona Ice will be set up out on the dirt lot after school dismisses.

This past Friday, we distributed yearbooks to students. If you ordered one and did not receive it, please check with your child's teacher and if you need further assistance, please email our amazing Yearbook Coordinator, Marcia Thissell at orcausd@hotmail.com.

Summer breaks are awesome opportunities for fun and a great change of pace for families. At the same time, I know that we all want our children to continue to learn and grow.

For those who are interested in having their child utilize Accelerated Reader over the summer, we will be setting a six-week reading points for each student to achieve between June 3-July 16. Students who meet their summer reading goal will be invited to a special celebration party with Mr. Lyche when we return in August.

On June 1st, school will dismiss at 12:15 per our regular Thursday schedule.

On June 2nd, school will dismiss at 12:10.

Please be sure to plan accordingly!

We will be leaving the lost and found out front for one more week (unless it rains) so be sure to come by and take a look for any lost items. After school ends, we'll be donating any leftover items to charity.
