Halloween
Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school on October 31st. We ask that all students are able to independently go to the bathroom in their costumes. As a reminder, no masks, weapons, or props are allowed at school.
The Franklin Halloween parade will start at 3:10 pm. The parade route will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.
Devices at Franklin
In the Student-Parent handbook, it states that all communication devices (e.g. phones, smart watch, GPS tracker, etc.) must be kept in the students locker during the school day. Cell Phones and electronic devices will be asked to be powered off and kept in students' lockers. Please refrain from calling students during school hours. If you need to speak to your student or have an urgent message, please call the Franklin office. We can support you in reaching your child.
Emergency Contacts
Please take a moment to go into the Parent Portal to ensure your child's emergency contacts are up to date. Make sure to add any additional family/friends that have permission to pick your child up from school entered into your Parent Portal account.
Lost & Found
The lost & found will be placed outside in the circle drive at arrival and dismissal next week. Please take a moment to look through the lost & found to locate any missing items.
Picture Retake
If you would like your child to participate in picture day retake, please send the original prints back to school with your child on 10/24. The originals are needed to retake the pictures with Color Portraits.
Arrival: Circle Drive Kiss & Go
Please follow the circle drive driving directions. We ask all families to turn right into the circle drive and turn right exiting the circle drive. There should be no left-hand turns in or out of the circle drive to support the follow of traffic.
Please do not drop students off before 8:40 am, until you see a supervisor with a neon vest. The Kiss & Ride times are 8:40 am - 8:50 am. The supervisor must leave promptly at 8:50 am for the start of the school day. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign their student(s) in at the office starting at 8:50 am.
Arrival and Dismissal Parking
To be good neighbors and keep all community members safe, we ask that families do not park in front or block our neighbors' driveways. In addition, we ask that families do not park in the Franklin parking lot. The parking lot is intended for staff and Franklin buses.
We also ask families leaving Franklin at dismissal to remain on the sidewalks and no not walk through the parking lot. This helps ensure student and community safety. Thank you for your cooperation.
Morning Bus
A reminder to all of our morning bus riders to arrive at your stop 10 minutes prior to the designated bus arrival time. Buses may arrive up to 10 minutes early from the designated bus pickup time.
Changes to Pick-Up or Traveling Parents
If there will be a new adult/guardian picking up your students, please make sure that the person is listed in the Parent Portal as someone with school pickup permission. Please make sure to notify the classroom teacher and office if there are any changes for students if a parent is traveling and the student is staying with someone different.
Visiting Franklin
All visitors to Franklin must have a valid state ID or driver’s license. These will be entered into the Raptor identification system. This process only takes a short time to complete. Once you have clearance, a visitor pass will be printed and attached to a lanyard that you must wear throughout the building. The office will hold your ID until you return to the office and return the lanyard that was given to you. We request that you please be patient with staff as we proceed with this district-mandated safety procedure.
Student-Parent Handbook
Franklin Elementary School, along with all District 64 schools, operates following policies and practices that have been reviewed and implemented by the District 64 Board of Education. Please review the D64 Student-Parent Handbook before the start of the school year.
PTA Updates
THANK YOU
We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Deanna Barrett and Alycia White for planning and
organizing another extremely successful Raise Craze event!! We exceeded all of our goals
, and it was so wonderful to see all the acts of kindness happening during those 2 weeks!
This is our only large fundraiser of the year and Deanna and Alycia make it look easy when
really it involves tons of planning and lots of dedication! Also, a big thanks to everyone that
volunteered to help with all the extra Raise Craze events throughout the 2 weeks!
Please join us for some spooky fun on Saturday, October 29th at Trunk or Treat!! This event
is weather permitting only and will not have a rain date. Also if you can, we are accepting
candy donations at the main office. We have lots of trick or treaters and could really use
your help making sure everyone gets lots of treats! Thank you for your support!
Halloween parties are on Monday, October 31st, and will be held in the classroom.
● 1st-5th grade is from 2:00-3:00
● Kindergarten is from 10:30-11:30
Food and candy is not allowed. If your child would like to bring a noneditable treat to share
with the class, they may do so, but it is not required. The parties will be planned by room
parents and party helpers, and if extra details are needed, they will reach out separately.
When: November 4th
Where: Franklin school gym
Time: 8:00am-8:40am
On the morning of Friday, November 4th, the doors located by the circle drive will open at
8 am to welcome in students and their VIP. We are asking for only one VIP per household to
attend the event. After the event, students may exit to their lines from Door 5 inside the
gym so parents and students will not need to walk all the way around if they would like to
line up together.
The donuts are from Spunky Dunkers, and we will have gluten-free and nut free available.
Coffee and juice will also be served.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The PTA has big plans this year! In order to carry out all the fun events and activities, we
need volunteers. Once parents have registered for the PTA, a list of volunteer opportunities
will be posted on the membership toolkit. Please consider helping chair an event. If volunteers are not found, we will have to cancel the event. Thank you to all that have already signed up to volunteer! We really appreciate it!
