School Reopening: This month Hueneme Elementary School board will meet to continue the discussion on school reopening. Currently, HESD and Hueneme Elementary school is planning and preparing for when it is safe to reopen. Please continue to check your SMS/text messages for information from the school and district regarding reopening.

Zoom Cameras: Thank you all for encouraging your student to turn on their zoom or google meets cameras. We appreciate seeing them engaged and learning!

Asynchronous Friday's (2): Today, December 4 and next week December 11 are asynchronous days for students. There will NOT be a live zoom or google meets. Please go to Seesaw or google classroom to complete the work for the day.

I am excited to share that this month I will start two new activities to continue teaching and promoting social emotional learning. Social-emotional skills are the strategies one has for managing strong emotions, navigating relationships, working effectively with others, solving difficult problems, and making responsible decisions. Every month I will be focusing on one SEL topic and will be sharing pre-recorded social emotional character lessons with all of our teachers so they can share them with their students. The topic for this month will be self-awareness and the lessons will address identifying different feelings and emotions.

I will also host a virtual recess that will provide students with the opportunity to interact with other students. We will do fun activities like Just Dance, Kahoot, Go Noodle, drawing and other games. I will be sending the Zoom links next week. We will meet from 12:30-1:00pm and here are the days for each grade level:

TK-1st Tuesdays

2nd-3rd Wednesdays

4th-5th Thursdays
