Let’s celebrate fall accomplishments!
There has been tremendous work to ensure district-wide sponsorship and support of teachers and their professional practice. Our teachers have been working hard and leveraging this support!
This chart demonstrates curriculum adoptions or district-sponsored curriculum and material development. As you can see, in the past, curriculum adoptions have been occurring at the elementary level, and most secondary courses have teacher-created materials.
Since many areas need district-sponsored curriculum/materials, grant funding has been dedicated to supporting teaching and learning curriculum work based on the curriculum adoption cycle.
Professional Learning Across all Schools
High School:
Math Department visited colleagues from Everett Public Schools to see Illustrative Math in action and engage in dialogue around what’s working, address practice questions, and discuss the implementation process.
Science Department spent team time engaging with and implementing the newly adopted Biology curriculum.
Social Studies Department (9th-grade teachers) met to discuss ninth-grade content and began discussing instructional shifts to deepen alignment.
English Department (9th and 10th-grade teachers of English/Honors English Course) met in August to update the syllabi and honors guidelines. In October, they engaged in another meeting to discuss the next steps for ongoing professional development and support of these courses.
Middle School
Social Studies Department (7th-grade teachers) spent team time engaging with curriculum materials and developed a curriculum map for Washington State History.
Elementary
English language arts teacher participated in grade-level meetings to discuss the EL curriculum and engage in backwards planning for module two. Based on feedback from these grade level meetings and PLC teacher leader meetings, the mid-year grade level meetings will be repurposed for a small workgroup of teachers to meet and develop district-wide essential standards and backwards maps.
District-wide
PLC/PLT leaders engaged in a couple of professional development opportunities during the fall to continue the professional development launched during the summer Institute and support the ongoing work of the PLC/PLT teams and leaders.Winter sports has begun!
Covid Dashboard
The online dashboard will take the place of the emails that families received last year when we had a positive case within our buildings. We encourage anyone with concerns, especially high risk individuals, to check the website on a regular basis.
