WRMS Weekly Update

We wish you a very happy holidays, a restful break, and wonderful and healthy New Year!

Dr. Gonzalez made the official announcement at last night's Board of Education Meeting that we will open as a true, 6-8, Middle School in September of 2020! We are thrilled! Please join us for upcoming presentations regarding the improved future Middle School experience for our students! The first will be to the Board of Education on January 16th, with others to follow and be scheduled soon.

Please join us for a parent program, Coping with the United States of Anxiety on Wednesday, January 15th at 7:00 PM at Brookside School. We have invited Frank J. Sileo, PhD, a New Jersey licensed psychologist and the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Psychological Enhancement in Ridgewood, New Jersey to speak about the mental health wellness of our students. In 8th grade, there are a number of honors offerings for students, including courses in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, Spanish, French, and Art. To earn a recommendation into one or more of these classes, students are evaluated through the Honors Criteria Rubrics available through our MS Counseling Department Website. With the New Year upon us, and the 1st Quarter behind us, it's a great time to set goals!

Our Environmental Club is working with the Township of Washington's Green Team to recycle any clean styrofoam blocks and panels. Please send them in after the break!

The Westwood Regional School District opened online Kindergarten registration for the 2020‑2021 school year on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. This is a pre-registration only; students will not be considered enrolled until parents/guardians submit the required documentation at an in-person registration appointment.

Be aware that your child must reside in the Borough of Westwood or Township of Washington and be five (5) years old on or before October 1, 2020 to enter Kindergarten next September.

Family Bowling Night

Please join us for our second annual Middle School Bowling family night out on Sunday, January 5th! All students and their families are invited to Montvale Lanes from 6 -8 p.m. for a fun night of bowling, pizza and snacks. $20 includes shoe rental and two hours of bowling. Pizza, drinks and snacks will be available for sale as well. We hope you will be able to join us!

Sign ups will be available via the google form and payments can be made via the membership toolkit school store.

Please ensure you read and check off the PSO waiver form in order to bowl. All students must be chaperoned. This is not a drop off event.

7th Grade Co-Secretary Opening

WRMS PSO will have an opening for 7th grade co-secretary. If you are interested, please send an email to middleschoolpso@wwrsd.org by the end of the day, today.

Box Tops!

Download the new Box Tops app and keep earning for our school! Box Tops is in the process of going digital. While you will be able to clip and send them in the traditional way while products remain on store shelves, earning 10 cents for the school with each Box Top you send in (and these really add up!), we will be shifting toward individual online submission and an all-school goal. Please download the app at the Apple App Store or on Google Play to participate. Anytime you purchase items featuring the new Box Tops label, you’ll simply need to scan your receipt and all such items will be recorded—with just one scan. Scanning these receipts also gets us entered in contests that win bonus Box Tops for our school—right now, for instance, there’s a chance to win 5,000 bonus Box Tops and a chance to win a $20,000 school makeover!

Yearbooks are on sale early this year! Yearbooks are $25. To purchase, log on to the secure website YearbookOrderCenter.com.

• Confirm that you have selected Westwood Regional Middle School.
• Choose "Buy a Yearbook, Yearbook Packages" on the left side of the screen.
• After you put a yearbook in the cart it will ask you to "find a student". Enter your child's name and hit the search box. Once it comes up that the name can't be found click on "add your student". This will generate a list of who ordered a yearbook for distribution time.
