AT HOME PRACTICE
Some at home practice tips:
* read each night (sign/write book in agenda book)
*review snap words (sight words read in a SNAP)
*practice counting (goal to 100)
All of these ideas can be turned into games: make it fun and tell them how PROUD you are of their hard work!

Reading
We will be reading Christmas books using our Super Reading strategies for the next two weeks. I will also incorporate several emergent reader books with comprehension questions for extra practice.
- Readers have super powers to look, point, and read everything they can!
- Super Readers use pointer power to check their reading, making sure what they say matches what they see.
- Readers don't let longer words slow them down: every word gets one tap.
- Readers use snap words to anchor their pointer power
- Readers will use partner power, snap word power and are ready to make the first sound in the word to help them read the word.
- Readers will use persistence power with stretching out tricky words.
- Readers use their voices to bring books to life.
- Readers will put all their powers together when reading. Super readers don't give up!
Read Aloud for the Week:
My Bug Box
Writing:
Students will be publishing their stories and sharing them with other Becky-David students. We will also send a published book home (later in the week) to share with you.
How to write true stories that readers really want to read
Drawing stories for readers
Writing sentences that tell a story
Use rereading to check writing
Use tools to help our writing: Popsicle stick for spacing, vowel chart, word wall, abc chart
Use partnerships to support their writing: to hear more sounds in words, support writing for the reader and how to make their writing more readable.
