Methacton Elementary Transition

Each current elementary family (K-3) will receive a letter confirming their child's school according to the newly adopted boundaries. If your child currently participates in a district-wide program located in another building, more information will be disseminated to you in the near future. If you have any questions related to your child’s home school assignment, or believe this information is inaccurate, please email information@methacton.org.

These letters will be mailed next week. Please note that information for newly registered kindergarten families will be sent separately.

The elementary principals will be working on class placement in the coming months. Placing students with peers from their current school will be taken into consideration when determining class placement, in addition to information communicated by current teachers, principals, counselors, and support staff. If you wish to share information about your child’s specific needs, please send this information to the building principal so that it may be taken into consideration during the placement process. Any requests of this nature must be submitted by May 19, 2017. Requests with regard to specific teachers will not be considered. Mrs. Janet Aureden, Audubon Art Teacher, recognized the artists of the Audubon Art Gallery during the annual Art Show and Family Heritage Celebration.

Open House Tours - Time for families to check out the elementary school their child will attend next year. These events will offer tours led by current students.

Arrowhead - May 10th - 6 - 7 p.m.

Eagleville - June 1st - 6 - 7 p.m.

Woodland - May 16th - 6 - 7 p.m.

Worcester - May 3rd - 6 -7 p.m.

Classroom Assignment Letters will be mailed August 14th.

Kindergarten Orientation and Grade 1-4 "Meet and Greet" - Thursday, August 31st (afternoon). This will be an opportunity for children and their families to see their classroom and meet their teacher prior to the start of the school year.

Activities being planned:

School Meetings - students will gather according to their school for 2017-2018 and be visited by their principal and school counselor for the upcoming year.

Postcard Pals - In mid-May, Home & School volunteers will assist students as they write postcards about their current school during lunch. Each student transitioning to a new school in 2017-2018 will receive a postcard from a student at their new school.

Virtual Tours - A highlight video of each elementary school will be produced and added as an on-line resource for transitioning families. Mr. Dale will be coordinating this with 4th grade teachers and students.
