Bernardo Parent Bulletin #26

This week, we want to highlight the brave journey of a 4th grade Bernardo student, Joshua Whitten, who has been courageously battling a type of brain cancer called diffuse midline glioma for the past year. Joshua's brother Joel is an amazing 2nd grader here and Joshua's parents Jusmin and Jesse have been involved and dedicated to Bernardo for several years. The Whittens are an incredible family who always bring so much joy and love to others, even throughout this cancer battle.

Morning Drop-Off Times

We provide supervision outside of the gates beginning at 7:30 each morning and parents are welcome to begin dropping off their children at that time. We hope this is helpful for those who need to get to work or drop off children at other schools as the traffic flows much faster at 7:30.

Please do NOT drop off your children off at the curb BEFORE 7:30 as we do not have supervision until 7:30.

Boosterthon Fun Run/Obstacle Challenge Coming Soon

We are excited about our upcoming Fun Run fund-raiser. On Thursday, March 9, we invite our families to come out and cheer the students on. We'll share out the specific grade level times in the coming weeks as well as ways that families can register and begin gathering pledges for this fun event. Mark your calendars now!

Drive Carefully on Mountain Heights

There have been a couple of fender-benders recently near the corner of Mountain Heights Drive and Bernardo Avenue. Thankfully, nobody was injured but it's a good reminder to drive slowly and carefully when entering or exiting the school area as there are lots of children and cars all around.

Pizza 22 Fund-Raiser Follow-Up

We are very grateful for all of our families who ventured out to Pizza 22 at our last restaurant night. We ended up earning $500 for our school while supporting a locally-owned establishment!

We know that wait-times were extraordinarily long for some families as Pizza 22 was surprised at the turnout and support for Bernardo. They called in extra employees and worked very hard but were a bit overwhelmed during the busiest time. For future restaurant nights, we will be sure that they are aware that our Bernardo families show up in force. Thank you for your patience and support!
