Dear TCPS Community,
In light of recent events, I want to reiterate that the safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. Please know that TCPS Administration will continue to thoroughly investigate any possible threat to a school environment and respond with appropriate action and discipline.
I am thankful to our local law enforcement team, our community partners, and TCPS students, staff, and families for their support and patience as we have navigated some very challenging situations. We must continue to work together as a community to maintain a safe learning environment for our children. There are several ways that everyone can help with this:
If a student, parent, or member of our staff notices behavior that is a safety concern, please promptly report the situation to a trusted adult, school administration or law enforcement. If you “see something - say something.”
Please discuss these events with your children to help them understand the implications and consequences, and remind them that their parents or guardians, teachers, and school administrators are there to support them.
In emergency situations, please support guidance given by law enforcement and TCPS in following our approved crisis plans.
If students and staff must be evacuated to an off-site location, for the safety of all please do not share the location on social media.
Also, see the link below for a message and additional state-level resources from the Maryland Center For School Safety.

TCPS Students and Staff Recognized Suicide Prevention Awareness on December 9th
The Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program is intended to spread awareness of mental health challenges, including suicidal thoughts, to students so they can ask for help for both themselves and peers who are struggling. This year, school counselors and social workers gave Yellow Ribbon presentations to all classes in grades 5-12 at all schools in the county. During this presentation, students were given information about the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, and cards with contact information for the national suicide hotline. Now that all of our fifth through twelfth graders are armed with information on how to get help for themselves and their peers, we are hoping that hosting subsequent Suicide Prevention Awareness Days throughout the year (December 9th, February 17th, and May 12th) will continue to remind students that it is okay to ask for help and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
SUPPORT THE TCPS EDUCATION FOUNDATION'S TEACHER GRANT PROGRAM!
As we celebrate the season of giving, we are thankful for our community's support of Talbot County children through contributions to the TCPS Education Foundation. Take a few moments and watch this video to learn about some of the projects the Education Foundation has funded. We invite you to use this link to make a donation to our Teacher Grant Program: https://tcpsforms.org/view.php?id=52454
Together we will ensure that Talbot County students and teachers have the best resources that our community can provide.

TCPS JOB OPENINGS!
Bullying and cyberbullying, harassment and intimidation, hazing, and/or bias behaviors are unsafe behaviors that do not reflect respect for others as defined by Policy 10.16 on STUDENT CONDUCT – BULLYING, HARASSMENT OR INTIMIDATION . If a student is a target of one of these behaviors, you can report it using the Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Reporting Form (linked below).
The form is also available at all schools, in the main office and the school’s counseling office. Students can also report issues directly to a staff member. When a situation that involves any of these behaviors is reported, staff members will respond quickly and will provide a practical, private, and safe place to report.
