Principal Message
Welcome to June folks!
June is here and we are busier than ever. Lots of great trips are booked to celebrate the end of the school year. We have our kindergarten grads on June 14th and 15th. We also have our junior high awards and grade 8 Farewell on June 15th. Our grade 6’s will be heading for their annual Edmonton trip where they visit the Legislature, Telus World of Science and Fort Edmonton Park. The past couple months our bands have had many successful trips to NWP and the junior high band went to Red Deer and Edmonton. All reports are that the bands had great times and played beautifully. Thank you to all of our students who always represent CCS so well as they travel around on field trips. We are very proud of you all.
Next year will bring a few changes to the staff at the CCS. We have hired one new teacher; Robin Bailey will be teaching grade 2. Another change in staff will be that I am leaving to join PWA as an assistant principal. It was an incredibly difficult decision to apply because I have loved my time at CCS but I have always wanted to return to a high school and PWA is a perfect fit. They are looking to hire the new principal by the middle of June and I look forward to hearing who the successful candidate will be.
Next year we will also be saying farewell to a few other teachers. Kelsie Jones, Lisa Airth and Kelli Sylvester will all be heading off to join other schools. We want to wish them well and thank you for the outstanding jobs they did here at CCS.
In closing please remember that June attendance is just as important as September so please keep making attending a priority for your family. I hope you all have a wonderful June and a great summer. Take care!

Nutrition Program
CCS offers healthy lunch options for students that are in need of them or would like one Monday through Thursday. Lunches will be nutritionally balanced, based on the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth and offered at no cost to students. Participation in the nutrition program is entirely optional and students can still bring lunch from home. All students will be expected to provide their own lunches on “special days”, such as field trips, swimming lessons, etc. Information regarding these dates will be sent home in advance by homeroom teachers as they are planned. Students should continue to come to school with morning and afternoon snacks if they require them.
Please watch the September newsletter for more information.
