Hello FMS Families!
I have community on my mind this week.
Last night, RSU1 hosted a STEM night at Morse High School. It was great to see so many future, current and former students at the event. The turnout was great and the participation from the community was amazing. I enjoyed seeing so many tables from different parts of the local and larger community offering activities to inspire our young people. It was also great to see so many staff and students within the RSU1 community giving their time and energy to showcase their work.
This sense of community is also great within Fisher Mitchell.
This week our 4th grade classes participated in a historic architecture workshop with Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc. You may ask your student for their observations about your own house or neighborhood; historic architecture is one of the things that makes Bath a great community today. Thank you SPI!
Thanks to the generous support of The Maine Council - Atlantic Salmon Federation Fish Friends Program, we have Salmon eggs thriving in a chiller. Students will observe, learn and care for Atlantic Salmon up close!
We are so pleased to resume our 3rd grade swim lessons with the Bath Area YMCA. This important partnership was interrupted by the pandemic. Our 3rd graders are once again learning the importance of swimming and water safety!
These are just a few examples that highlight our current school-community partnerships. While it does take time to plan and organize activities, we are always interested in making more community connections.
