November 2023
November 9: Veterans Day Assembly
Our Veterans Day program here at Spring Mills Middle School has become a time honored tradition. This year, we are once again able to host an in-person assembly to honor our veterans. This assembly will take place on November 9, 2023 at 8:15 AM, with a reception to follow.
In addition to the assembly, we also host an “Honor Wall” in our front entryway to recognize the men and women who have selflessly given of themselves to protect our freedom throughout the years. We would like to continue this tradition to honor our military heroes, as well as with a digital format that we can share with even more members of our school campuses and community. We will be creating a video slideshow that will be shared with our students and staff. We would also like to include our Honor Wall slideshow on our SMMS Social Media platforms.
If you would like to honor someone by having their picture included on our Honor Wall, please submit a photo, along with the information below. Please submit a copy of your original photo (do not send in your original copy). You may also email a digital file of the photo to jordan.english@k12.wv.us.
Please return this form and the photo by Monday, November 6, 2023.
Our First Academic Pep Rally
On Monday. October 30, we held our first academic pep rally. Joined by the Leadership Class from SMHS, we celebrated academic achievements and played a few games.
At lunch, students who earned a 3.5-4.0 GPA were recognized with their first ever Ren Card and a SMMS t-shirt. We had 479 students earn the top tier of our Ren Card. That is certainly something to celebrate!
Students earning a 3.0- 3.4 GPA, along with students earning a 2.75- 2.90 GPA, were also recognized with silver-level and red-level Ren Cards, respectively. An additional ADD NUMBER of students earned this honor.
