Weekly Parent Update
April 12-April 29
Greetings Ory Parents!
Spring is here and our scholars are blooming! It's hard to believe that in 7 short weeks, they will be moving forward and preparing for the upcoming school year. Our scholars are caring and resilient, and have continued to thrive in the face all of the challenges brought our way this 2021-2022 school year. For that we should be proud. I am deeply honored and feel extremely blessed to serve as your school leader!
The musical production was a huge success. We couldn't have done this without the parental support you give each and every day. Thank you for supporting the program.
The Oratorical Contest date has been rescheduled to May 4th from 6:00-8:00 PM. We will host the contest at New Wine Church which will allow for a more spacious environment and allow more audience members to attend.
We are now only 1 school day away from the opening of the LEAP testing window. All 6th-8th grade scholars have met with the administrative team or master teacher to discuss their individual goals. We will meet with all 3rd-5th grade scholars upon our return from Spring Break. Through our collective efforts, I am sure that our scholars will perform well, and we will increase our school performance score.
THE CELL PHONE POLICY HAS BEEN UPDATED- PLEASE SEE BELOW UNDER POLICIES- CELL PHONES ARE PROHIBITED ON SCHOOL CAMPUS. SCHOLARS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE CELL PHONES ON CAMPUS.
As always, thank you for your continued support and helping to continue our tradition of high expectations and excellence.
Ms. Jones

RELAXED DRESS CODE
The relaxed dress code was put in place for scholars who do not have uniforms as a result of Hurricane Ida. If your scholar has a uniform and has been coming to school in a uniform, he/she is required to continue to wear their uniform. Our administrative team will reach out to parents of scholars and compile a list of those scholars without a uniform. A memo of dress wear expectations will be sent home for those who do not have uniforms. We are seeing a decline in adhering to the uniform policy under the relaxed code. Please support our efforts in teaching our scholars to Dress for Success!

- Contact your scholar's teacher with any concerns.

UNIFORMS
As we begin to transition to our normal routines, we are requesting that our scholars who have their uniforms begin to wear them on a daily basis.
Scholars who are not in uniforms shall meet expectations for respectful dress and adhere to the dress down guidelines set by the district which include the following:
- Top - no crop tops, tank tops, profanity, spaghetti straps
- All shirts must be tucked at all times.
- Bottoms- no holes- shorts and skirts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee- no sagging pants- shirts tucked
- Shoes - fully enclosed front and back
- See the full guidelines in the student handbook
To the fullest extent possible, if your scholar has a uniform, please allow him/her to wear it. If your scholar does not have a uniform, please be sure he/she is following the relaxed dress code. Dressing appropriately increases self-confidence and helps promote respect from others. Uniformity increases school-pride and shows pride in the organization(s) we are affiliated.
