A Note from Dr. Hooks

Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

I am happy to announce that Hyde-Addison ES has received a coveted 2022 DCPS Standing Ovation Award for “Building the Bridges for Students and Families” as presented by the DC ED Fund. Bridges are essentially about granting access and creating opportunities for those who might not otherwise have them. At Hyde-Addison ES, our “High 5” Priorities are grounded in building bridges. Our equity and antiracism work has been at the forefront of our efforts. We are a diverse school community with many families from around the world and from every Ward in the District. With access and exposure to superb instructional practices and whole child supports, we have continued to narrow opportunity gaps for students and prove that all children can grow and achieve. This has been a team effort and we thank you all. Well done, Hyde-Addison Elementary School Community. Congratulations!

Back to School Night Feedback

Early Dismissal

Parents/Guardians must be at the main entrance of the school building before 2:55pm to pick up students for early dismissal.

On Time Arrival and Dismissal

All students should be in their class lines by 8:30am. Tardies are recorded and monitored. All students should be picked up at 3:25pm. Families that are running late in the afternoon must call the front office to inform them of what time they anticipate arriving to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of the children.

PLEASE do NOT park in the kiss and ride.

There is typically parking available on the side streets and on P street. But, families may not park in the Kiss and Ride and legal parking on O St. is certainly limited.

If you would like a Kids Ride Free Card for your student, please fill out this short form. They will be sent home in students' backpacks on Mondays.

Family Library Mornings

We are excited to open the library up to families so that you can pick out book with your child on their class's assigned day. Please see below for the date and time!

School Meals- Payments and Details

All students have access to free breakfast and do not need to sign up or register. Information about lunches is more nuanced, based on family circumstance, and can be found here, including how to add funds to your student's account. Click HERE for full details about Free and Reduced Lunch and to access the online application to receive free or reduced meals. Families that do not qualify for free or reduced meals click HERE for meal price information and payment.

What Immunizations are Required for Students?

To attend school, students must be current with their immunizations. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, DCPS School Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.

&pizza is hosting a fundraiser benefiting the Hyde-Addison Elementary PTA on Tuesday 9/13 from 11am-close. Patrons will need to use the code HYDE at checkout either in the store or on the &pizza app.

Before Care Registration Extended!

If you plan to sign up for Before Care, please complete three steps below by Saturday, September 10.

If at that time we have 31 students enrolled five days per week, then we can move forward with the before care program beginning on Monday, September 19.

Students may begin arriving at 7:00am and families should walk students to the front door of the school for before care drop off.
