April Family Newsletter
A Message from Mr. Hawkins
As we move into April, we here at Galesburg High School would like to keep you updated on a few future events.
Spring Musical- Looking for something to do this weekend? The Galesburg High School theater students will be presenting their Spring Musical: Working. The show runs on April 8th and 9th at 7:00 p.m., and on April 10th at 2:00 p.m. All performances are at Churchill Junior High School.
Spring Break- We hope your student takes some time to relax and recharge over Spring Break. This year Spring Break begins on Monday, April 11th, and will conclude on Friday, April 15th. The school will be back in session at the regular time of 7:40 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. on Monday, April 18th.
State/National Assessments- Our 9th and 10th graders participate in the PSAT testing. Our 11th grade students will participate in the Illinois Science Assessment. PSAT and Illinois Science Assessment testing will happen on April 26th.
Attention Seniors- All students are required to take the SAT as a graduation requirement by the State of Illinois. If you are a senior student that has not taken the SAT, you must do so on April 26th. Once again, this is a graduation requirement.
Streaks After Hours Family Event- If you are interested in a family event, Streaks After Hours will be hosting a Succulent Wreath creation event on April 26th at 5:30 p.m. in the GAVC building. Families will be able to create and take the wreath they create. A light meal will be provided and all materials are free of charge. We ask that you sign up for the event in advance. Summer School Information- Beginning on July 18th we will offer summer school in CUSD #205. The program will run for 3 weeks, ending on August 5th. Students in grades 9th-12th will have the opportunity to engage in credit recovery. Communication about participation in this program will come directly from Galesburg High School administrators. If you have any questions regarding our summer school offerings, please reach out to your child’s school for more information.

Student Reminders
Lunch- Galesburg High School is a closed campus. This means that students are not allowed to leave campus to get lunch. Our servery is newly remodeled and provides many nutritious choices for our students. Additionally, our new student commons provides students with a spacious atmosphere to enjoy lunch with their friends.
Start Time- On a regular school day, school starts at 7:40 a.m. This means students are expected to be seated in their classrooms, ready to learn, at 7:40 a.m.
Restrooms- Our restrooms have been newly remodeled. Please use the restrooms appropriately.
Lockers- Students are to place coats and backpacks in their lockers during the school day. It is also a great location to store their cell phone.
