A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

Thank you to the many parents that visited us during American Education Week! Thank you for your support at Pontiac! Please remember that our PTO is accepting desserts tomorrow in our car rider line. Thank you for sending in a dessert for our staff appreciation luncheon to wrap up American Education Week! PTO members will be in the car rider line to pick these up for you so you don't have to come inside. If you would prefer to walk in the building to deliver the dessert, we welcome you to do that as well!

This is a friendly reminder that there will not be school on Wednesday, November 21-Friday, November 23 in observance of Thanksgiving. Please enjoy your time with family and friends. Safe travels if you are traveling out of Columbia! Remember, your holiday traditions will become some of your kids’ favorite memories!

When we return from the holidays, we are excited about the holiday festivities at Pontiac! We welcome students back on Monday with Military Monday on November 26. Encourage your child to wear red, white, and blue! Our Parent/Child Paint Night and Fall Literacy Night will be held on Thursday, November 29. Please plan to join us for this dual event!

Our Chorus will perform on Monday, December 10 at Richland Northeast at 7pm. Mark your calendars now to attend to join us as we welcome the holidays!

It’s not to late to help PTO at our Holiday Shop! Please email pontiacpto@gmail.com if you can serve as a shopper and assist our students at our Holiday Shop that will be held Dec 3-7. This is an opportunity for students to purchase gifts for their family and friends!

PTO Holiday Shop News

Each year the PTO sponsors Jenny's Penguin Patch Holiday Shop. The Holiday Shop is open December 3- 7 and students are able to shop for holiday gifts for friends and family during this time. Volunteers are needed to help set-up the shop on Friday November 30, help students shop and wrap gifts during the week of December 3-7, and then clean up on Friday December 7th.

Family Paint Night Sessions to be held in the Art Room (must register)

Join us for an evening of fun with family as you create a winter masterpiece in support of our annual Arts Day celebration! Mrs. Quam will walk you through the painting process as DJ Rayner sets the mood with holiday musical hits! $20 per adult/child pair if you prepay (add $10 for each additional family member), $30 at the door (add $15 for each additional family member). Digital Literacy to be held in the Media Center (free and open to all)

SIC is delighted to welcome parents to our FALL Literacy event!

Join us to learn more about digital literacy opportunities for your child including helpful websites, reading subscriptions our district offers, and digital tools to support reading both in your home and at school! A representative from Richland County Library will also be available to share ideas such as their digital homework help. PTO is graciously offering a Kindle as a door prize raffle for those families that attend!
