Lunch Numbers. Students will be using their lunch numbers this year when they get lunch from the cafeteria. I will send home your child's number. Please help them memorize it. So far, they have been doing excellent using the keypad to punch in their numbers! The cafeteria workers (and I) are impressed.

Attendance. Attendance the first two weeks has been almost perfect! Thank you for bringing your student to school every day. Each month, students with perfect attendance can participate in a fun activity organized by the counselors. Also, every class has its own attendance goal. In our class, we receive a letter in the word "ATTENDANCE" for every day we have 100% attendance. When we have spelled the whole word, there will be a special treat.

Community Resource Center. We have an amazing community resource center at Lakeview, and our family outreach coordinator is here to help fulfill needs and direct you to resources.

Information Packets. On Wednesday or Thursday, we sent home the blue folders and a packet of papers for you to sign. Please return the forms as soon as possible. Let me know if you need the information in a different language. I am hopeful that I will receive Spanish copies this week.

Blue Folders. Students will be bringing home their blue folders every day except Friday. Please help them get in the habit of returning it to school the next day. This is where I will put homework and notes.

Tickets

Students can earn tickets for demonstrating positive behavior and following school rules and classroom expectations. The tickets are orange. For every 25 orange tickets a student earns, they will receive one green ticket. One green ticket will be chosen each week, and the lucky winner will receive a prize from the office.

We also have a class ticket store that will be opening this week. These are the current options.

10 tickets

• Red coupon. (First in line to lunch, 5 minutes for show & tell during morning meeting, positive note home, draw on the Smart Board)
• Water bottle sticker
• Small candy
• Desk pet accessory

25 tickets

• Blue coupon (use the electric pencil sharpener, bring a stuffed animal for the day, take off shoes in Ms. C.'s classroom, wear a hat)
• Custom sticker with your name
• Desk pet (desk pets are small animal erasers or figurines that stay in a "habitat" on a. student's desk. Students can collect them and buy "accessories" for them.)
• Ring pop

50 tickets

• Purple coupon (lunch in the classroom with a friend, choose your seat for the day, teacher's helper, change your name for the day)
• Custom water bottle (plastic water bottle with the student's name)

Our first spelling test will be on Monday, August 28. Please be aware that our curriculum does not include opportunities to practice the spelling words at school, so it is very important for students to study at home.

The words for this week come from our first book of stories - The Cat Bandit.
