RPI Pulse Newsletter

Good Morning RPI Families,

For the 50% of you that are still relatively new to my newsletter, I wanted to give you some background on how I do this. I typically send this out on Sunday's at 4pm. I do that for consistency and frequency of information. I will typically change this section weekly but many, if not all, of the following will remain the same or at least fairly consistent. I know you've never said this but I do frequently..."where is that ____ (fill in the blank email from a teacher/principal topic)." Lastly, I may add things from time to time that are parenting advice for kids living in this age. Maybe it's a bit selfish (my oldest is a 6th grader), but I find that the information is useful when navigating some of these tough decisions we have to make. Things like what age do you let them play Fortnite, how much sleep to they really need (trust me, it makes a huge difference at school), why is healthy food so important at this stage, and how much screen-time is too much. If you don't want to read it, that's fine. I am not at all trying to tell you how to do your job as a parent...I (and so do some others) find it helpful. Why didn't we get a parenting guide?

1. Medications: Any medication needs (prescription or even headache medicine and cough drops) have to be checked into the main office. More information will be coming as we get closer to school, but we wanted you to be aware for your planning purposes.

3. Appointments Necessary: From time to time, issues may arise with your child. While we are here as a service to our community, our (Ms. San Miguel and I) focus is on the teaching and learning in the building. If you need to speak with us, we are asking that you schedule an appointment in the main office, call us or send us an email. Thank you for your understanding.

DOORS OPEN AT 7:35. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR STUDENT OFF BEFORE 7:25!!

Any students going to eat breakfast need to report to door 1! They will be allowed in at 7:25 to get breakfast.

5th Grade: Below we will list your homeroom teacher. Based on who that is, please wait outside that door before school:

• Door 1: Mr. Grant, Mr. Scott, Mrs. Peterman, Mrs. Wahr and Mrs. Moore
• Door 24: Mrs. Hazard, Mrs. Marvin, Mrs. Matz and Mrs. Overway

6th grade: Below we will list your homeroom teacher. Based on who that is, please wait outside that door before school

• Door 5: Mrs. Maas, Ms. Carter, Mrs. Terpstra
• Door 6: Mrs. Ulfsax, Mrs. Meekhof, Mrs. Yore
• Door 7: Mrs. Dushane, Mr. Walters, Mrs. Walters

Students need to be dropped off/picked up in the Getty Street parking lot. The beginning of the day and end of the day are likely to be congested. Please be patient and treat others with grace and understanding.

Unless your child is staying for an organized after school activity, all students must be picked up NO LATER THAN 3:00 pm (full day) and NO LATER THAN 11:15 am (half day). They may wait in the foyer until then but will not be allowed back into the school.

After School Art club will be held on Thursdays starting September 21st. Students will be painting, drawing, making collages, and working on school beautification projects. If you are interested in signing up please look out for Mrs. Nastase in the lunchroom this week and next.

August/September Menu

Medication shall not be brought to school unless it is essential to the health of the student.

Medications which need to be taken in school must be administered by certified school personnel (or designee) in the presence of another adult. Parents must bring medication to the school office in the original container and file a written statement. NO STUDENT MAY BRING ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL.
