Life on the homefront during WWII brought a lot of changes to the United States. People had to ration food items, clothing and gasoline. Women went to work. Big band music was popular. Children even helped the war effort. Life as citizens had know was changing....but how?
Rationing
During World War II people made sacrifices to help the war effort. Some supplies were needed oversees, like canned milk, sugar, and gasoline. Certain clothing was even rationed! People on the homefront had to present a ration coupon to buy certain items they needed. If they didn't have a stamp, they couldn't buy the item.
