Greetings Tiger Family!
We are so excited to have you and your scholar(s) in the CMIT NES family! We have been working hard to get prepared for the new school year. Kind Kindergarten News!
Hello Kindergarten Families:
Our scholars are continuing to practice our routines and procedures, and our classroom and school wide expectations.
We have completed our MAP Reading and Math Assessments this week, and we are working on our KRA Assessments for the next couple of weeks. Please make sure your scholar is well rested and eats a balanced breakfast daily, and comes to school on time.
Please make sure that you are connected to your scholars’ ClassDojo along with your scholars’ teacher’s email. Those are the best forms of communication between ourselves and your families. Please make sure that you are reading any messages via ClassDojo, class story, or emails pertaining to your scholar’s class. Your scholars should bring their homework journals back to school on Friday’s, so we can add the next week's homework for Monday.
Specials have begun; please be mindful of dropping your scholars off on time. There are two kindergarten classes that have specials that begin at 8:00 am, and the other two kindergarten classes have specials at the end of the day. It is important that your scholar attends school daily and on time, unless they are not feeling well.

Third Grade
Terrific Third Grade News!
In Reading, students will begin to explore the genre of realistic fiction. Students will begin reading Cocoliso. The third grade team is looking forward to studying Hispanic & Latin American cultures as we begin our school wide celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.
In Social Studies, each third grade classroom was given a Spanish speaking country and will begin learning all about this country over the next couple of weeks. Asking your scholar what they've learned about their assigned country over the next couple of weeks is a great conversation piece at home. Students will also begin lesson 3: Using Earth's Resources.
We are finished with our MAP assessments. Students will be grouped and individualized small group instruction will begin. We urge you to remind scholars to pay attention to their homework sheets from both classes. Scholars should be writing their name and date on any work to be submitted. All homework should be turned in or completed on time!
Math: This week, your child is learning to multiply using 0, 1, 2, 5, 9, and 10 as factors. Help them practice these multiplication facts by using patterns.
Skip counting patterns can help your child with multiplication facts using 2, 5, or 10 as
factors. For example, to find 2 × 7 or 7 × 2, skip count by 2s seven times.
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14
7 × 2 = 14
It also may be beneficial to use a set of multiplication flash cards to help reinforce these facts.
Science: Scholars are reviewing what we have explored concerning position, speed, and motion. They will take a short quiz to assess what they have learned so far.
