I am Vestavia Week: A celebration of our cultural diversity

I am Vestavia Week: A Celebration of our cultural diversity is a week when our school system will celebrate the many cultures represented in our district.

The week's highlight will be the I am Vestavia Festival event at VHHS (gyms and parking lot). The festival will include booths from local cultural organizations and VHCS families, student and professional arts performances, showcases related to celebrating diversity, and guest speakers.

All students are invited to participate in the parade of countries. Flags from each of the countries represented in our school district will be included in the parade.

Elementary School Suitcase Lesson Plans

Fun Stories Coming to Elementary Schools

In honor of I am Vestavia Week, our Vestavia Hills High School World Language students are excited to come and share a story and a mini-lesson in either American Sign Language, French, German, Spanish, or Latin with our elementary friends in 1st and 2nd grades.

This program is called Fun Stories: World Language Storytime. Each session will last 20-25 minutes. Within each session, the VHHS students will teach a mini-lesson on animals and colors based on the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle.
