A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:
Spring brings a renewed sense of possibility and provides us with an opportunity to think about what we’re doing well and where we can improve.
Last week was such a positive, engaging week at our school. We enjoyed ARTS DAY and welcomed many local artists to our school to share art experiences with students.
Next week, students will begin Spring MAP assessments and we encourage our students to work towards meeting or exceeding their Target Growth Goal in Math and Reading. Our Turnaround students will be recognized at the chorus performance on Tuesday! Our chorus students are thrilled to share their hardwork with you at the RNE auditorium on Tuesday. We hope you will join us!
I can’t help but get excited! There are so many remarkable things happening at Pontiac. Our school is integrating student leadership in ways that inspire our students. This, after all, is the purpose of The Leader in Me: to produce students who are equipped with the leadership and life skills they need to succeed in school, college, and life. We, at Pontiac, are working hard to communicate to students their individual worth and potential; to provide a place where student, staff, family, and community voices are valued; and build a sense of belonging for all stakeholders. It is our hope that this inspiration will help all students strive to do their personal best each day.
Parents, look for ways to encourage leadership in your students. What are your child’s gifts and talents? Let’s help them explore these strengths and ignite a spark! Together, we can!
It's hard to believe we are already thinking about the 2019-2020 school year!
During our April PTO meeting, we will begin discussing next year's PTO executive board. All executive board positions are open for nominations. These positions include:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Member at Large
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to serve on the board, please submit nominations to the Pontiac PTO board at:
PontiacPTO@gmail.com
You may also contact the board at PontiacPTO@gmail.com if you have any questions about any of the positions.
We will take nominations until our next board meeting on April 4th. Voting for the board will be during our May 2nd meeting.
Thank you for your continued support of Pontiac PTO.

Middle School Music Programs
All of our 5th grade students were recently visited by band, chorus, and orchestra students from Summit Parkway Middle School. Each ensemble performed for our students, the directors introduced their middle school programs, and our students asked any questions they had concerning the middle school music classes. If your 5th grade child is interested in participating in band, chorus, or orchestra and will be attending a Richland Two middle school next year, the district is asking you to indicate that interest by completing an online registration form by March 31st. You can access the form as follows:
- go to www.richland2.org
- click on the Explore menu in the upper right hand corner
- click on I'm a Richland Two Student or Parent
- scroll down the list of tabs on the right hand side and click on Middle School Music Form
Or here is the direct Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfp-k1wxYWWEFKDu6ujA8wuoSDuqcaKFAMKxqEIhTOIW-LyKQ/viewform
I have a limited number of paper brochures only available for those with no internet access. Please have your child come by my music room to pick one up if this applies to your situation and you would like to register your child for a middle school music program. If you have any questions concerning middle school music registration please feel free to contact me.
Thank you!
