Reminders:

Senior Citizen dinner and musical is Wednesday. Dinner is at 5:30. We have a record number of community members this year!! I cannot wait for the event.

Musical Starts Thursday - Showtimes are 7pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 3 pm on Sunday. Tickets are available at the door. Please come support our students and staff. You will not be disappointed.

The Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting last night. The highlights are below.

Superintendent Recommendations

A. Approve the 2018-2019 MOU Annual Agreement with Wood County Sheriff’s Office for DARE/SRO

B. Approve the Proposal with Edulink Systems and Otsego Local Schools for a 2 year term;

2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school year per ( 2 years savings of $7,500, we will be switching over from our Honeywell Instant Alert System to Edulink)

C. Approved the administrative contract for Katrina Baughman, Mike Wiley, and Stephen Bihary

D. Approved the agreement with the Northwest Ohio ESC for Vision Impairment Services.

E. Approved the following changes to personnel:

Go Fund Me - Food Service

We are a group of Owens students taking a business communications class (ENG 120-226). In order to pass the class we are required to start a GoFundMe campaign. This campaign has no limits and can be for literally anything. We decided that we were going to use this opportunity to not only pass the class (duh), but also to make a difference in our community. We noticed that this idea already has support in the community and a GoFundMe campaign would be a way to get even more exposure and traction for it. We have teamed with the school administration and the organizers of the pay it forward fund to help raise even more money so that every student at Otsego gets a hot lunch. We feel that this is a chance for the community to come together and show that it cares about each other and our kids. There is already enough pressures at school that kids have to deal with. Being ostracized or made to feel different because you are having a stigmatized lunch, or no lunch at all, should be, and can be avoided. Coming together to support each other is how we build the community bonds that unite us all and remind every student that they matter and that they are important. STEAM CAMP INFORMATION - June 11th through 15th

Las year, Otsego Elementary hosted a STEM camp in conjunction with a company called Camp Invention. This year we are doing it ourself and it will be a lot bigger, better, and CHEAPER! Please get signed up early because registrations are going to fill up fast!!

Drive 4UR School Event - April 15th

Golf Clinics

The picture below lists information about spring golf clinics in the area. The clinics are not Otsego clinics, but some of our golfers do attend them. They are put on by the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation.

There are four clinics on Saturdays in April. Stone Ridge (BG) and Belmont (Perrysburg) are two local courses where you could attend. Each clinic is one hour and costs $15. You can go to one, two, three, or all of them.

To register, have a parent go to OGGF.org and complete the form by March 31st.

The new and improved leadership of the Weston ball program (Weston Youth League) would like to invite any child in the Otsego district to come out and join ball! We the youth of Northwest Ohio, in partnership with our teachers, parents, and the YWCA I Rise Regional Coalition would like to invite you to attend the Northwest Ohio March for Our Lives. The event will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00pm at Promenade Park and conclude by 4pm at One Government Center.

The youth of Northwest Ohio are planning this march in response to the tragedy in Parkland, Florida where 17 students lost their lives. Every kid in this country now goes to school wondering if this day might be their last. We believe it doesn’t have to be this way. Change is coming, and it starts now, inspired and led by us the students who are our hope for the future. Our young voices will be heard. Stand with us on March 24th and refuse to allow one more needless death. The youth from Northwest Ohio will voice our concerns about issues such as violence and graduation rates. We demand safety not only in our schools but in our community as well. Come help support youth from all communities in Northwest Ohio.

The March is open to all who wish to stand with students to demonstrate that our lives and safety are a priority.

If you know of youth from your district that would be interested in planning the march or would be great speakers for the March. Please let us know. Additionally, please feel free to share this information with everyone you can.
