Holy Cross Catholic School
From the Desk of Mrs. Wagner
May 20, 2022
Wow! What a great field day! Thank you to Mrs. Obershaw for always working so hard to plan a fun-filled day for our students. Next week we have our Kindergarten Recital and the long awaited return of a Talent Show on Monday. It will be so much fun showcasing all of our students God-given talents in both events! Our last All School Mass at church is at 8:30am, it is Kansas so if it rains it will be in the gym at 9:15am. Please feel free to join us to celebrate Mass as a school family. I can't believe we only have one and a half days of school left. How did that happen? That went by way too fast.
It is not always easy to say goodbye to our school family. Mrs. Ward will not be returning for the 2022-2023 school year. We want to thank her for the many years of service and dedication to Holy Cross, and wish her all the best in the future. When asked for some comments to publish regarding her time at our school, her sentiments included the following:
It is hard to describe the passion Catholic School teachers have for their vocation. Baptism is the greatest gift you’ve been given - do not forget that. Reconciliation will always lead you back to the Eucharist. The Mystical presence of Christ in the Eucharist will always be my North Star.
Mrs. Ward
Please continue to pray for all our students, families and staff members that have been called in a different direction next year. Psalms 20:4 says " Grant what is in your heart, fulfill your every plan." We wish you well on your new journey and may you find peace in your heart in all that you do.
Monday is an OUT OF UNIFORM! Wear your best Hawaiian gear to Kick Off Summer!
Tuesday we will be in Liturgy Uniforms!
Meet Mrs. Parker
Hi there! My name is Kathryn Parker, and I am so excited to be joining the Holy Cross Community as the new Literacy Coach next school year. It will be my 9th year in education. I taught 5th grade for five years in Maize, Kansas and then my husband and I relocated to Arizona in 2019 where I taught 3rd grade for two years and back to 5th grade for the last year. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas and completed my Masters in Educational Administration from Emporia State University in 2019. Through my Masters program I found my love of coaching, training and the professional development side of education and have been doing more of that every year since.
My husband, Reed, and I have a son, Everett, who will turn 3 in November and an Australian Shepherd. We are so excited and feel blessed to get to come back home to Overland Park; moving back to the neighborhood my husband grew up in and a short commute to Wichita where I grew up in the Wichita Diocese schools. When I am not in school or spending time with my family we love to go hiking and travel! I also love a good book, our cycle bike, and cheering on all our Kansas sports teams! I feel blessed that I get to join the Holy Cross Community and cannot wait to get to know everyone. Have a great summer!
