Welcome back! It's been a lovely week in school and I have been inundated with children coming to my office to share their fabulous learning! Writing in particular has really taken a step up this week and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of writing the children are creating. Matilda S, from St Therese's Class, earned herself a Diamond Award for going above and beyond with her literacy learning this week - have a look at her acrostic poem below!

This week, we began exploring our new virtue of hope.

We listened to the story of Gideon and how he defeated the Midianite Army with God's help. The story gave us hope and we remembered this when faced with our own challenges this week.

We almost blew the roof off with our whole-school chanting of the inspiring Gospel words... With God, all things are possible!

This week, we began our first session of preparation for Holy Communion. Our parish priest, Father Sean, and Mrs Ronicle are running these together, during school hours.

Thank you for coming along to meet your children's teachers during our settling in reviews on Thursday evening. We really value your support. Working together is always more beneficial for our children!

Next Friday (17th November) we will be having a Quirky hair day in school!

Children are invited to come to school in uniform as usual but with quirky hair- this may be a streaks of colour, a fancy head band.....all quirks welcome!

Rather than asking for donations of money for this, we are asking for families to donate wanted items for the Christmas fair. This includes chocolate for the much loved tombola and bottles of drink for the new bottle toss game . We can't wait to see all of the quirky hairstyles!

The youngest members of our school family listened to Jesus' Parable of the Lost Sheep this week. We talked about how God will always come looking for us when we get lost and how this helps us to have hope (our virtue this week!). We created fluffy sheep to remind us of the story and of God's promise to love and care for us all.

We explored 2D shapes in Maths this week. We discussed the properties and counted the sides on each shape to help us figure out its name!

In PSHE, we started our new topic on keeping healthy. We looked at what it means to be healthy and then decorated our words with our ideas. We came up with ideas like fresh air, exercise, friendship and good food!

In St Patrick’s class this week we talked in more detail about the legacies that the Ancient Greeks left us. We worked in groups to discuss which legacy we thought was most important and why. We thought about how those legacies affect our modern lives today. As a class every group considered Science and Medicine to be the most important legacy, do you agree?

This week in RE, we begun investigating God's covenants by using our Bibles to research the story of Noah and the Ark. We found key facts from the story, which took a lot of reading!

Thanks to all that attended the AGM on Monday. This allowed us to become 'official' in our re-launch of what was the PTA. There were some great discussions about what we are raising money for and how we hope to do this through various events.

Plans for the Christmas fair are steaming ahead with less than 4 weeks to go! We are hoping Quirky Hair Day next Friday will kick start the many donations we rely on whilst the children have some creative fun out of this! We are also looking for more volunteers to help us out on the day so please do let us know if you have any time to spare to help us out.
