Friday, January 12, 2024
FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
January is School Director Recognition Month
Please join us in thanking our Centennial School District Board of School Directors for their dedication to serving the Centennial School District and their commitment to public education in service to the community: Mary Alice Brancato, Patti Crossan, Mark Gindhart, Flemming Godiksen, Michael Hartline, Dr. Kathleen Maguire, Charles Martin, Jane Schrader Lynch & Tony Sadowski.
We are grateful for their service!
Sandwiches with the Supt 2024
On Thursday, February 8th, please join us for Sandwiches with the Superintendent 2024 to share results from the Fall 2023 Culture Surveys, receive information about Artificial Intelligence (AI) at CSD, and information on the expansion of Dual Enrollment opportunities in CSD.
The program will include breakout sessions by elementary school. Parents with children in grades 6-12 are welcome to join their breakout group of choice. We will share information regarding the academic growth of our students during the past school year, and parents will have a chance to ask questions and have their voices heard. Information on some of our curriculum changes/updates will be shared if time permits.
This event will be held at William Tennent High School. The doors will open at 5:30 pm with a light dinner, and the program will run from approximately 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Click the button below to answer questions associated with our secondary schools. The elementary questions are being collected via the elementary Home and School Associations.
Round Up to Support Feeding School Kids
Centennial's Food & Nutrition Department is again partnering with GIANT Food Stores to help support our students facing food insecurity. We encourage the greater community to participate in this effort.
Through March 31st, everyone who shops at GIANT will be invited to "round-up" at the register and donate the round-up amount of their bill to support Feeding School Kids. Customers can also give by converting their CHOICE Rewards Points to donations in the GIANT app or purchasing a reusable bag.
We ask our school community to help spread the word about the Feeding School Kids 2024 Campaign to ensure its success. Our goal is to support the children in our district who need the most help accessing nutritious meals and snacks. From backpacks with weekend food to clearing lunch debt to building a community pantry in our schools, the funds will be provided directly to our district's food organization for use, at our discretion, to address food insecurity in our school community.
Please join us in supporting and advocating for this initiative to help ensure no child in our district experiences hunger at school or home.

From Concept to Creation
Log College's STEM classroom recently seized the opportunity to employ its two state-of-the-art Bambu Lab P1S 3D printers. These printers boast the ability to swiftly produce designs, offering up to four different colors in the process. The 7th and 8th-grade STEM classes are set to leverage these printers for crafting steamboat designs, game board pieces, and cupcake war displays in collaboration with Family Consumer Science class, and various other projects throughout the year.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Prepare the popcorn! Seventh-grade students from Log College, participating in the digital media course titled "Lights! Camera! Action!," have crafted short films featuring classic "Knock! Knock!" jokes. Overcoming the challenge, these novice filmmakers skillfully positioned cameras and edited clips to create scenes where characters interacted as if face-to-face through a barrier. Some producers even incorporated green screen effects to elevate the storytelling. A big congratulations to our filmmakers as we applaud their achievements.
Willow Dale's Pawsome Students and Staff
Congratulations to Willow Dale's December students of the month. These students were nominated by their classroom teachers for consistently showing respect and always displaying PAWSOME behavior!
To celebrate all of the amazing teachers and staff members at Willow Dale, they are selecting names at random for their teacher/staff members of the month. In December, they highlighted Mr. Freedman, Mr. Arno, Mrs. Craig, and Mrs. Smuszkiewicz. Congratulations to the December staff members. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication at Willow Dale Elementary School.
