Introduction to the Science of Reading
Join Carolyn Turner, Ohio Literacy Lead, for an introduction to The Science of Reading. The term "Science of Reading" is not a program, practice, or philosophy of reading. Rather, it refers to the body of knowledge that includes what science has determined to be relevant to reading, reading acquisition, assessment of poor reading, and the interventions available for poor readers. Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement is grounded in this work. This session will give participants a brief introduction to the Science of Reading and allow district and building leaders to reflect how current practices align with science and Ohio's Plan.
