Counselor's Corner
Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Stephanie Hatch and I will be the Middle School and High School Counselor this year. What I love most about the secondary level is student’s ability to learn more about themselves. This is a great time for students to discover their interests and plan for the future. I am excited to meet with students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms. As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students. It is important to me that I work closely as a team with parents/guardians, teachers, administration, and staff to ensure your student is receiving all the support they need to guide them through these middle and high school years. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you all and getting to know your students throughout the school year! To kick off the year there are two main events coming up to ask questions and get clarification:
Freshman Orientation @ Back to School Night on August 11th from 4:30 - 5:00 in the HS Gym.
I have reviewed with students the expectations for High School, but a refresher never hurts. Please join us to learn about credits, class options and pathways, and ask any questions you may have. Join us to enter the raffle to choose your locker for the year!
Back to School Night on August 11th from 4:30 - 6:00
I will have a booth to answer any questions you may have from 5:00-6:00. Prior to back to school night you can check your schedules by following the steps below. (Appointments required for schedule changes.)
If you are a returning student, your schedule is accessible in your Alma account! Your schedule was created based on your requests at the end of last year and our best ability to place students in their desired placements.
Step 1: Log into your Alma account:
High school students use sphs.getalma.com
Middle school students use spms.getalma.com
Your username is firstname.lastname
If you forgot your password, simply click the “forgot password” button during sign in to reset it.
Step 2: View your schedule for the year by selecting Home> Classes> Grid View. This is the way you can see the entire year. (See "Class Schedule" photo example at end of letter.)
Step 3:
If you want to discuss your schedule or have questions please email Mrs.Hatch, set up an appointment with Mrs.Hatch by emailing a date and time that works best for you. Schedules were made based on requests and availability so schedule changes will be made only for compelling academic reasons: i.e. improper prerequisites, improper level placement, or failure of a course. The last day to make schedule changes will be August 18th!
Step 4: For High School - To view your current graduation tracking including your credits acquired and GPA select Home>Graduation>Graduation Tracking. This is where you can view how many credits you have earned and other completion requirements. This helps you understand which classes you are working toward completing and which classes you have earned credits for. (See "Graduation" photo example at end of letter.)
** For High School - There is an opportunity to do a zero hour Weightlifting class before school from 7:00 - 7:45. It will count as the same credit as if it was during the school day. Please let me know if you are interested and if you would like to be signed up.
**For High School and Middle School - Intro to Agriculture sections will be added based on interest. Please let me know if you are not signed up, but are interested in the program.
