NWEA Report Feature - Projected Proficiency
Last month, we highlighted the NWEA/ILEARN Linking Study. In summary, this report correlates ILEARN score ranges and NWEA RIT scores. If you would like to see the linking study, click on the link below.
Indiana MAP Growth Linking Study
The Class Breakdown by RIT, Goal, or Projected Proficiency Report will allow you to view projected proficiency on our state assessment. When selecting the report, be sure to choose the "by projected proficiency" option shown below.
After reviewing the report and as ILEARN approaches, you may want to focus in on the group of students "in the bubble" or in the Approaching Proficiency projection. You could use the Student Profile report to look closer at these students' specific needs. Another suggestion may be focusing on priority standards for your grade and subject in Study Island. As we approach ILEARN testing, students in grades 3-8 could benefit from more practice and exposure to these critical standards and skills through your assignments in Study Island.
Google Forms - A Few Tips and Tricks
Did you know you can provide feedback immediately to students on questions they may have missed? This feedback can be in the form of text, links, and even YouTube videos! This would be a great addition to any formative assessment leading up to a larger unit assessment. Students can make adjustments from the instant feedback about why their answer may be incorrect. Check out the video below for how to add this automatic feedback piece to your answer key in Google Forms.
Shana Ramin at helloteacherlady.com provides some great tips for Google Forms in her blog post Hacking Google Forms Quizzes: 4 Grading Tricks You May Not Know. Be sure to check out her blog if you are interested in learning how to change the default point value for your quiz questions, grade short answer responses, and assign extra credit questions. WITTS/Teacher Spotlight - JAMBOARD
Lauren writes, "Jamboard is Google's new kid in town! The program is designed to be a collaborative whiteboard. Students and teachers can access Jamboards via Chromebooks, desktop computers, tablets, and phones. Teachers who started using Jamboard since the program launched are loving it as a medium to create engaging and accessible content because of its simplicity and flexibility with or without the collaborative option. The uses are only as limited as your imagination."
Be sure to check out the website and this month's spotlight here: WITTS Website.
Have a strategy, tool, or idea you would like to share with other WCSC teachers? Please fill out the Google Form here: Teacher Spotlight Sign Up. As Robert John Meehan said, "The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration, our growth is limited to our own perspectives."
