Great Work is Happening!
Greetings Awesome Parents!
I'm excited to announce that our attendance beat the district average again this week! This is the second week in a row where we have beat the district average. Let's do it again this week. Please continue to send your child(ren) to school daily. The only way we can guarantee that your student is receiving the very best instruction is seeing them in the classroom engaged in learning experiences that are created for them by their classroom teachers. Every absences is a day of missed direct instruction that cannot be made up. We monitor attendance daily because research shows that a student who misses an average of 2 days/month in elementary school stands a 60% chance of dropping out of school in 9th grade. At Eastridge we want our students to succeed...success begins with regular attendance.
Warren police conducted our 2nd internal lock-down drill on Wednesday. Our students and staff did an amazing job. We hold safety drills randomly throughout the school year to make sure students and staff know what to do in case of emergency.
We had our winter bus evacuation drill on Friday and our students did great! All buses were cleared before the 2 minute mark. I attached the bus rules to review with you child(ren). Our number 1 priority is always student safety. These rules will help keep your student safe while riding to and from school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Johnson
A Note from Mrs. Wilson
Thank you to all of you who responded with interest to our upcoming Parents Are the CORE (PAC) breakfast meetings. We are excited to get to spend some time with you and your kiddos. Each breakfast meeting will have a specific focus with resources available for our families. Children are welcome!
Last week, students finished up with their discussions about how to accept no. This week classes will focus on how to ask for help. They will be practicing how to ask for help on simple tasks (ex. opening milk at lunch), with academics, and in social situations. It is important that children have the skills to be able to advocate for their own wishes and needs. Included in this message are some resources on how you can help your child practice self-advocacy skills at home.

Outside Recess
It’s that time of year when we need to remind student to make sure they have appropriate clothing for recess. The district policy states students will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees. We have extra coats, hats, and gloves for students in need. Please contact the front office if you need assistance.
Students must go outside unless we have a doctor statement.
Wellness Policy
In compliance with the district's wellness policy, please DO NOT send in a food item for your child's birthday. We encourage you to donate your child's favorite book to their classroom, arrange a time for a game or craft in the classroom, send in party hats for your students class or send in stickers or cards.
