MST Weekly Update
May 5, 2023

We are into the month of May and the end of the school year is only 5 1/2 weeks away (5 weeks for seniors). Parents of seniors who are still significantly behind in classes that are required for graduation will get the next notification soon. Underclassmen who are still at a competency level of 1 in classes need to be meeting with their teachers during class, learning labs or after school to work on all that needs to be completed. Makeup days are scheduled by subject and are on the school calendar on our website. If summer recovery is necessary, the dates for it are listed below. Students are in summer recovery for as long as is needed to complete the work, so it can be completed in as little as a couple of days or it could be all four weeks.
Enjoy the nice weekend ahead. It looks like it will actually be sunny and warm!
Prom Update
Prom tickets will still be available for one more day on Monday May 8th. Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Weiss in room B135 during lunch periods C1 and C2. No tickets will be available after 12:30 PM on May 8th.
All students attending the prom on May 19th must be present in school on that day until at least 11:10 AM and must attend all classes while in school. There will be a meeting with all students attending the prom at 9:40 that day in the Brennan Center. Students who are absent from school on the 19th will not be admitted to the prom.
Teacher Appreciation Week
This week was teacher appreciation week, an opportunity to thank our teachers for all that they do every day! Thanks to the amazing generosity of our parents and local vendors, we were able to have daily raffle drawings with every teacher winning a gift card. In addition, we had a snack cart on Monday, cupcakes on Tuesday, pizza and salad on Wednesday, breakfast on Thursday and burritos on Friday (appropriate for Cinco de Mayo).
Thanks again to all who donated and showed how much we all appreciate our teachers!
A Star is Born!
In recent weeks you may have seen a commercial on WMUR for the NH Department of Education's Work! as Learning program. That commercial features Oliver Patterson, an 11th grade MST student and early graduate. Oliver has been participating in the Work! as Learning program at Merchant's Automotive in Hooksett. Great job Oliver!

Marine Biology Research Project for Juniors
The Shoals Marine Laboratory on the Isle of Shoals has an amazing marine biology research opportunity for Manchester Juniors. This project will be August 14th-18th. Students who are selected to participate will spend 5 days and 4 nights on Appledore Island which is located 6 miles off the coast of NH/Maine. Upon completion of the project, students will receive 1/2 credit in Marine Biology and a stipend of $313.20. There is no cost to participate.
Information and the application can be found at: https://classroom.google.com using Class Code 5nchx2f. It would be great to have some MST students participate in this project.
More Summer Learning Opportunities
Forever Friends International (FFI) in Durham, NH is offering 3 credit bearing Leadership Program opportunities this summer. These free programs are open to any NH high school student ages 14-18. Please see the attached flyer for additional information. Application deadline is Friday May 19th.
Two Important Nights for MST
Two important end of the year events have been added to our calendar:
CTE Recognition Night will be held on Tuesday May 30th at 6:00 in the Memorial High School Auditorium. Recognition Night celebrates all CTE students who have successfully completed all required competencies of their 2-year CTE program. Students receiving a Certificate of Completion are those who went above and beyond and are being recommended for continuation in their chosen trade. Also recognized are those who completed two or more programs and students receiving scholarships related to their trade. Invitations will be sent out in early May to the families of those being recognized that night. Due to space limitations, we can only allow 2 guests per student.
Class Night will be held on Wednesday June 14th in the Memorial High School auditorium at 6:00. This night is for all seniors, who will attend in cap and gown. This evening is for presentation of scholarships, academic awards and other honors received by members of the Class of 2023.
