Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 11/17/2023
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
Due to the short school week next week, this will be our final Magic Messages before the Thanksgiving Break (Magic Messages will return on Friday, December 1), so we want to make sure we convey our many thanks for an incredibly supportive Community. Educating and supporting our students is truly a team effort! We are thankful for a wonderful school with amazing students and a Community that is an integral foundation for both! Also, special thanks to our Support Staff Team and Mill Creek. We celebrated Support Staff Appreciation Day this past Wednesday and were able to provide a "Thank You" Breakfast for them on Friday morning. If you see one of our Support Staff members, please let them know how much you appreciate them. They are the unsung heroes of Mill Creek!
A highlight from this past week was welcoming many of you into our building to visit your child's classroom during American Education Week. We saw that our teachers put our parents/family members to work by incorporating classroom activities where you had to work with your child(ren) on a learning experience. We were thrilled by the number of visitors we hosted, and we hope you enjoyed your classroom visits!
As this newsletter goes to "print," most if not all of our families are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving. Each and every holiday has special significance and meaning to different people and families, but Thanksgiving is unique in that it is arguably one of the only universally celebrated holidays in our very diverse nation. Just about every U.S. household, regardless of culture, nationality, or religious affiliation, will come together with their families to celebrate. We hope, however and with whomever you celebrate, it is a joyous occasion!
Additionally, we want to recognize our families in the Community who celebrated Diwali this past Sunday, November 12. We hope your celebrations were full of light and love!
Have a wonderful weekend and upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday!

From the Mill Creek Diversity Committee...
In November, The Diversity Committee highlighted and celebrated Native American Heritage Month at Mill Creek. Students learned about major Native American tribes, languages, populated regions, and traditional clothing. Students also listened to the famous Native American quote below. Next week, there will be a school-wide read aloud highlighting a Native American book as well as other read aloud options shared out to each grade level. Stay tuned for upcoming celebrations/announcements from the Diversity Committee!
