Tech Ped: GSD's Instructional Tech and Pedagogy Newsletter
Technocolor Google Drive and "New Workspace, Who Dis?"
Stop Searching & Clicking Through Drive: Google Workspaces/Priority Tab
How: Two Ways.
1. Add files as you find them/use them using the right click method
2. Create a new Workspace and add files from the pop up box
Why: Save time, group and organize files for faster access. No real additional work to use this function. Plus, the Priority page will show what Google’s Artificial Intelligence identifies as documents most relevant to the user.
Color Code Drive Folders
How: Right Click on the folder, Click " Change Color"
Why: Add a layer of visual organization to make it easier to find what you searching for.
EMOJIs can also be used to distinguish folders 🙌
General Drive Organization Tips
- Use folders & sub folders! Drive has a hard time moving large amounts of files, so if you want to de-clutter, it will take you forever. Drive will freeze if you try to move too many files at once. So start using folders now to avoid future clutter.
- Use Numbers: Start a folder name with a number to control the ordering of folders (see picture above)
- Star Files: Similar to Workspace, click the star icon next to a file's name if opened or right click on the file if closed. All starred files will appear in the Starred tab on left side of Drive
